What stereo amplifier/receiver?

12-gauge speaker wire is fairly thick. Unless you're running very long distances, 14-16g is enough.
Pete… this is BITOG. “Enough” is insufficient, “too much” is a bare minimum, and “massive excess” is the third bowl of porridge.

@Pablo you think you can get some 1/0 banana plugs? 😂

I didn't know there was another gauge other than 12ga for home audio ;)

I ran 12ga through the walls for my in-wall 7.1 in the living room & used the rest of the spool for the three 2ch setups in bedroom, office & lounge. As you say though, "too much is the bare minimum".

As long as it’s OFC and not CCA! If it’s CCA, one inch is too much!

Without doing any research, I'd likely look a Denon although everything has gotten so lightweight. Just that at the price point given, kinda like my buddy asking for advice on a laptop when he wants to keep it under $400, is there really really that much difference among the models within the range? Maybe look to reviews and make sure not too many warranty claims/failures.

When it comes to audio I tend to buy second hand but stick with brands or units that are easily serviceable with generic yet high quality parts. Checking out audio karma or other sites will give you a lead but also checking with a quality local tech on what they service should save a bunch of hassle. Heck, the tech might even have gear that people never came back for that’s already serviced.
