What stereo amplifier/receiver?

The DH Labs Silver Sonic speaker cables I use with the Harman / Kardon AVR 25 II are 14 AWG . They're around 6 feet long .

I just ordered this stuff:

It sounds. Interesting. PLENTY of bass oomph.

It's warm enough.

Not sure I'm getting the highest higher notes with LPs, and mid-range, not enough punch MAYBE. Need to listen more and I have not gotten twitchy with the phono pre-amp settings.- then to the main pre-map through XLR cables.

That said I like it.

OK wow, messed with the crossover settings, etc.

Reset the sub.

It sounds nice, quite nice now. Nothing missing. Clean. Will take it to "11" later!

The amps get warm but not super hot, I was thinking of a fan, but probably not necessary,

Dang I’m cheap if it’s a short run I use 22-24awg speaker wire. Longer runs like 50ft 18awg. Wires expensive these days 😳

Relative to components not so much difference. 14awg stranded probably would have been OK for my system, I think 16-18g a little light.

$40 for a 100 feet of 12awg earlier this year. No worries.

Glad I finally invested a couple bucks for banana jacks though.

Yeah, the Douk with a 48V/5A PS does run pretty warm, even at low volume with nothing playing, and doesn't really get much warmer when I crank it up some. Alas, I listen at my desk with speakers just a few feet away from my ears, so not much power is needed.

It does have a sticker stating "The outer case heating is normal during working." LOL

Just converted an older non BT Tivoli PAL radio over to BT. All in for around $40 radio from eBay Bluetooth dongle from Amazon. New garage tunez

I have been a lover of all things audio from the time I was 12. My first sales job 1987 was selling high end stereo ( the good stuff like B&W to Conrad Johnson tube stuff and everything in-between. Beck then ( late 80's ) it was all about USA or made or made in England and you got exactly what you paid for.

I find find in 2025 things are not that simple.
You can buy off brand or no name made in China audio that some stuff is fantastic ( yes some junk ) but some China products are mind blowing for the price paid but now you have old school once USA or England Companies ( some Classic speakers companies ) that may still design the products at home but many or most products are overseas made but still priced like it was made in the USA or England.

No saying it will or will not sound great but IMO if a company is saving money by using China factories I expect some of those savings to be passed down to me the consumer.
I'm just not going to buy a $5000 amp made in China but I may buy a $5k amp hand made, point to point wired in the USA.
With that in mind I am no longer a BRAND guy. Lots to be learned on audio forums and I suggest spend some time reading some post about whats hot right now as things change often.

I changed my thought process about money required to be spent on good sound about 15 years ago when I discovered the then new tech of T-Amp chips and purchased a then new $75 Topping TP20 amplifier the size of a pack of cigs that had 95% of the fantastic sound of $5,000 Tube amps of the past and my eyes were opened to how you can now find great sounding off brand audio but requires reading and seaching as this stuff is not advertised,

However if you don't want to research and need a place to start I suggest look around the online stores are read user reviews but many of these stores are $$$ and much is made that designed in the USA and made in China and you pay for that.

Music Direct
Even Crutchfield has some mid-fi products
Parts express has some low priced China stuff and at one time sold that Topping unit.

However me being in the audio loop many years some of the mid-fi brands that come to mind I feel may be a good place to look for the average living room 2 ch sound system may be brands like Rotel, Yamaha, Marantz, Denon NAD

I do suggest when buying use you eyes, look at things like the jacks on the back, Gold plated? Not?

Added two super quiet fans. The amplifiers both were running near 100°F as measured outside with an IR gun. Temps dropped to ~80°F +/- with fans.

My dilemma then became switching the fans on/off. I didn't want the hassle of rigging a thermal switch. I had an idea. Since I use a remote switched power circuit for the sub woofer, just add the fans to that circuit. I had to add a larger power strip anyway and get my wires straightened away, it was easy. Works great, there is no detectable noise of any type with fans on.

I collect what most would trash IT dept was stripping pcs I pulled a few heat sinks from them my Roku stick on the garage tv was displaying device over temp message. A zip tie and a repurposed heat sink done the trick.
