What other filters can I use??

Hello all.

The only good filter I can find for my Lincoln LS is a WIX.

M1, RP, Pureone, K&N, ect. . . do not list a filter for my application. I was wondering if anyone knew of a different filter model that may be longer or larger that still fits my application.

Wix is getting HARD to find in local stores. Plus, I'd like to try some other brands. But short of Motorcraft, Wix, and cheapy purolator, I am stuck!!!
 
Napa Gold is the exact same as Wix. If you don't have a Napa store nearby you can order from Fleetfilter.com. The Napa ProSelect is also made by Wix. Both are great filters.

I know. I have been useing them.

Napa normally has to special order it for me. I am just wondering if there is anything better.


Anyone know who makes Jaguar filters?
I could go to the jag dealer and pick these up if there of high quality. . .

That Jag filter looks like a Champion Labs at first glance but an automaker can change their suppliers whenever they feel like it.

Seconded. A bit 'boring', yes, but a good idea if you can get the right filter at Wal-Mart. You can't go wrong putting a Motorcraft filter on a Ford product, maybe that Jaguar filter for a little bit of underhood bling.
 
I guess I'll check out Bosch. . .

I just have an ich to try something new. There not a lot out there for me.

I do not know why none of the high end filters like the ones I said are not made for my car. My car takes the same filter most jags and landrovers take. It seems to me those owners are a good market to push the flashy stuff to. . .

However, most of those owners do not know what a oil filter looks like, let alone a quality one. . . .
 
After doing some digging, I found K&N does make a filter for my application. It must be new, cause I tried to order one from them in June and was told they do not make em. . . .


Ok sooo,

I do not care about price.
Should I try a K&N or Bosch?!?!?

Agree, why not use the MC filter unless it is not readily available. Walmart and many parts stores carry the MC line. But I guess if you don't like Purolator..... Most around here have a lot of respect for the motorcraft filters. If there is something wrong with the MC filter I would like to see the proof.

Walmart, nor any other parts store stock my filter. It's allways a special order. Or I have to goto the dealer.

So it's a misson to get a filter. Any filter.
If im gonna put more than 20 seconds into buying a oil filter, I want it to be the best.
I like Wix. It's what I have been useing. But I want a change.

It's up to Bosch or K&N.

FL-2021 cross to a Purolator L15317 when using this.

Notice it says "Made in Germany" on the Purolator in the photo. It's 4 inches long ... that's pretty long it today's world of filters.

Seems the Bosch has a little higher filtration efficiency--not enough to worry about--and either K&N or Bosch filter particles better than most Wix. The Bosch's anti-drainback valves usually work better. The K&N looks cool and has the hand-dandy removal nut.
Get one of each and start with the K&N? It there is a start-up racket in the morning you could put the Bosch on there.

I didn't realize the LS filter was so hard to get. Have you considered ordering on line and having them delivered to your doorstep? Does AMSOIL EAO do that application? I've ordered on line for motorcycles for years. I always have plenty in stock on the basement and when the urge strikes me to change oil I don't have to run around looking for anything. I buy the oil for my MC on line as well.

Or if you find something you like over the counter stock up.

I'd imagine that Donaldson would be the most exotic
filter you're gonna find, but Bosch are excellent filters.
I'm either going with PureONE or Bosch on my next OCI.
