What oil to keep the engine cooler?

Well summer is coming here in Florida and it can get to 100 degrees if not more.., my SpecV does *NOT* like the heat, and even though it already runs relatively cool (never goes above 190.. even on the racetrack), I want to keep it as cool as possible...

I hear both sides, that thinner keeps it cooler, and that thicker keeps it cooler, I'd rather hear it from BITOG'ers though...

Well, my vote is always for the most expensive oil.
And change it every 1500 miles.

Explain does NOT like?

have you check oil temp in fair weather compared to summer?

what were the results?

My 99F150 never goes above 190 on oil temp....coolant temp is 190 also.

looses a bit of power, has trouble starting, etc..

in 40-70F weather it turns like brand new.
 
I guess maybe an oil cooler, but honestlt without knowing what the temp is it's a shot in the dark if thats the reason for the power loss and hard start. I personally think you have another issue

What car/engine are you asking about? Power loss, and hard starting when hot could be a mechanical issue. Timing could be off.

no.. all SpecVs have this issue, mine actually has it less than my friends' SpecVs.. but it's still a bit annoying in hot temp.

What oil do you run now that gives you the "problems" when hot?

Does EVERY oil you've run cause the engine to be the same?

The problems you are seeing maybe NO oil is going to help with them if EVERYONE of the Spec-V motors have this "problem".

If you want to figure out if it's the oil try an OCI with redline in it. If that doesn't fix it you know it's not the oil.

Has anyone done a fuel pressure test when hot? System leaking down.....Leaky injector flooding cylinder?

I've used GC 0w30, and right now Edge 5w30.

Apparently it's an issue with all the fuel returning to the gas tank when you shut the car off, because if it's hot outside, I have to prime it twice and it starts up perfectly.

In my friend's 03 Spec.. it would have problems no matter what, all Specs have this problems, some just worse than others..
 
I'm thinking some kind of shrouding, I don't think over cooling the engine via the oil should be a solution.

Sounds like heat soak induced vapor lock. More a gasoline issue than a motor oil issue.
 
An engine will not run as powerfully in hot weather because the hot air is less dense, so less of it is entering the engine. Also, the higher air temperature always means higher temperatures in the combustion chamber (Even if coolant temp is equal), and this can lead to knock, and require the ignition timing to be retarded.

You can try various things, but you can't re-write the laws of physics.
