What to pick for the 02 Jeep 4.0? I'm thinking about
- Castrol GTX9 Magnatec 5w30
OR
- Castrol Formula RS 0w40.
It's not very warm in Sweden, so thin when cold is appreciated. Will there be a difference in friction at operating temp between these oils? The GTX9 is a bit cheaper but not much.

I maintain a 2006 Jeep wrangler with the 4.0.

I use Castrol Syntec 0W-30. Over here in the states the bottle is marked "European Formula", and on BITOG we call it "German Castrol." I can't remember what it is called in europe, sorry.

have a good one.

What is your driving pattern? Where in Sweden?

I've spent quite a bit of time in the last few months in Lund, I was quite surprised to find it was warmer than where I live in NY. Here I use 0w30 in the winter and 5w-40 in the summer. Our temps range from about -25° to 35°.

This is in Stockholm, a bit north. It's between -20 to +27 C here over a year.
Will a 40 weight full synthetic be preferred to a 30 weight GTX "HC synthese"?
It's family driving, short shopping trips and a few longer trips per month.
