We had a site administrator that ran with no ff oil filter and I think he said there was little difference in uoa's with and without. It's too much trouble usually, but a ff filter and a bypass might be the best long term setup. For short term ownership I'm not sure how important the ff filter is. I opt for the Mobil 1 or Amsoil ff filters because I drive 'em tell they drop and spare little when it comes to maintenance that I do myself. I've got a Frantz in the box to install on one of my vehicles and I visit almost every week end and it's still there in the same place. I end up cutting the grass or pulling weeds or playing with my granddaugheter.

leftlane: Don't forget to look at Baldwin / Hastings! Their filters are pretty decently made and they have a large manufacturing plant in Kearney Nebraska.
