What oil/filter would you use for these cars?

I've not used their ProSelect offering. I wouldn't stress over it for a 5K mile oci though. Think how many people take these cars to quick lube locations which use very cheap filters, and have zero issues.

My SFS 2.0T has seen many more FramXG than OEM filters. Probably more NapaGold too.

Yes but lots of folks don't own cars for much over 5 years and just over 100K.

I would use factory oil filters if maintaining the warranty is any concern of yours. I doubt there's an enormous difference between quality filters. And with your short change intervals, you oil is probably not even getting discolored before you change it.
I have a Soul with the 1.6 like yours, with about 18-19K. I just switched to 5w-30, a lot of Soul people do this.
