What oil do you use on Cadillac CTS?

I agree they should be more open with it and that is where it gets kind of shaddy IMO. $$$. No one knows what this test exactly is (HTO-06) and Honda or XOM should be more open about it IMO. I have no doubts other top tier brands like Amsoil/RL would exceed this spec. For retail oil, I'd only use M1/PP in cases like this.

It indeed costs $$, big $$ at times, to actually run the tests to validate oil performance. Oil marketers pay the $$ bill.

There may be oils that could pass a test IF they took it in the first place - they'll never know if they don't take the test. Honest marketers don't claim performance specs that they don't have. A spec references certain criteria being passed.

There are only 3 options:
1) you don't take the test
2) you pay and take it and fail (and don't reveal that you failed - or you tweak and try again)
3) you pay and take it and pass (and then you tell everybody that you passed)
