Ok please help me decide I think I caught the bitog bug!!!!
Car is a 2002 ford focus with 78,000 miles. I have been using the pp at 4000 intervals. I ask you what do you think would be best? motorcraft 5w20 at 4,000 or maxlife blent 5w30 or stick with the platinum? I respect all your thoughts! Ive taken in si much info from you all over the years I think I'm losing it!!

Amsoil 0W-20, I know it wasn't on your list, but my friend loves it in her focus.

I remember past UOA's with Amsoil 5w20XL on a ford focus with 10k mile intervals and wear rates were exemplary. Terry Dyson once stated he never saw a bad UOA with Amsoil 5w20 XL oil. Make sure you use a site person to order especially with Amsoil's XL oils. For example, Salvo Auto parts in Maryland sells Amsoil XL oils for same price as Amsoil's higher end synthetics.

Considering 4,000 mile oil change intervals, any oil you can get on sale will be fine. You will not see any worthy benefits of syn oils with your oci.

1) Select desired TIME oil change interval, 2-3-4 times a year.

2) Select an oil that's appropriate for the miles and conditions anticipated during that period.

I'm doing four changes a year on both our Hondas, I get synth the woman gets semi-blends. Last chaneg of the year should be right before it gets cold, becuase the oil looses it's cold-cranking abilty after some use.

So that's 4X a year:
DEC-JAN-FEB
MAR-APR-MAY
JUN-JUL-AUG
SEP-OCT-NOV

or 3X a year:
DEC-JAN-FEB-MAR
APR-MAY-JUN-JUL
AUG-SEP-OCT-NOV

It seems the easiest and best way to decide, anticipating timed changes rather than counting miles and having to decide, 3000-5000-5500-6000 miles or whatever. It also allows for seasonal visc changes.
