What oil are vq37 owners using?

Mobil 1 0W/5W-30 ESP would be my choice in that engine.
Why esp specifically? Especially over the other variants like euro formula?

Edit: interesting some of the esp bottles also say euro formula. I have a black label euro formula up here too, got thrown off by the emissions system protection or whatever. But same question why esp over the others.

From reading some older posts, Nissan VQ engines(& owners) seemed to like heavier grade oils. I’ve had a couple of VQ’s and would agree but I suppose it isn’t necessary.

"Euro" means it has European approvals. VW 504 00 is a demanding approval and that oil has it.

Yea as soon as I saw green oil I was like ok idk about this. Who cares if it's green going in?

Interesting to know about motul. Used to see it at some dealerships like Subaru alot and was always curious
motul is the liquimoly of the subaru world. the owners are convinced it's the thing so dealers stock it. many of the independent euro shops around here stock liquimoly for the same reason. nothing to do what they think is better, they know it sells.

in motul's case they've really gotten in with the subaru brand, sponsoring factory race teams at various times. now the popular engine builders and many of the parts vendors sell motul kits.

for today's pricing their street oils are all fairly silly, I don't think x-cess or x-clean get you anything that you can't get from a sopus/mobil product at $5-6/qt. their gear oil is quite good and is my choice in my track toy.

fwiw, if I still had my Z, i'd be running M1 0w40 FS without a second thought.
