What % of people do you think use Synthetic?

According to that link, the percentages shown are not the volume of the brands sold, but rather the percentage of smaller fast lube operators that listed the brand as their top seller. Not the same.
The link says the survey shows "Amsoil is among the top selling synthetic motor oils in the fast lube business", yet only 4% of the smaller operators named it as their top selling brand. Also the link does not provide any information on who conducted the survey or how it was done.
Overall I don't find the data useful.

I'd venture to guess it's 12-15% of the overall driving public. It's not gonna be 1% like some people here guestimate because plenty of cars require it (BMW, Benz, Porsche, Vette, turbos, modified, etc), and there are enough people who live in very cold climates who understand its benefits.
If you take all your friends into account, how many of them really changed their own oil let alone ask for FS when they get an OCI done? Very low indeed.....
I cant believe ppl dont use synthetic or least what they call synthetic oils. I looked at walmart most non-syn are 10.50 / 5 qt and syn range from 19-22 5/qt considering gas is almost 3$/gal agian why wouldnt u

Yeah it's a pretty weak study. A better study based on volume would be much better.

Yeah it's a pretty weak study. A better study based on volume would be much better.

I think this is a gross generalization. I'm not here to "get you to believe" but sometimes conventional oil is perfectly acceptable.

Must be because most people do not change their oils as hpichris said. But nowadays even the quick lube places offer Mobil 1 or other synthetics as a choice.I have not asked their price out of fear it would be too high for me...
