What makes you like where you live?

I live in a small town in rural Southern New Jersey. We purchased our house in 2013 in a neighborhood with a 1/3 of an acre. I was born and raised in this county. I love the small town feel, sense of community, and proximity to the Jersey Shore (50 miles about 1 hour drive). I also love being about 30 minutes from Philadelphia for sports (Go Birds!) concerts car shows etc. I also like the wide open expanse of farm land around me (although warehouses are cropping up at an alarming rate). The downside to living here is taxes and cost of living in NJ is pretty high. Having 4 seasons is a plus too.

My question for you is what drew you to your area? What are the pros and cons of where you settled? Happy Father’s Day.

Born here in Tampa Fl area when it wasnt so crowded would love to move north to blue ridge mountain area but wife does not want too. Her sister, Kids and Grandchild here

Just moved to a small town in eastern Tennessee. My favorite thing is a dairy farm across the street. I wake up to cows on many days! So far, love this place!

Born in and still live in South Jersey, 1 mile from where my father had a large chicken farm with 80,000 chickens.
Stayed here even after offered a very high paying job in NYC as a promotion. I considered living in NYC as a demotion.

More or less the same. Proximity to cities, beaches, rural locations, farms… easy access/choices of many airports. Decent public transit and good Amtrak access. Good roads and infrastructure. Walkable towns. School district where kids walk to school no bussing or regionalized schools. Four seasons.

Small town, non-sprawl living for me.

Was halfway between workplaces for us, then we grew to like the area. No reason has gotten good enough for us to leave—there are many variables and often it can be net sum zero, or not enough gain for the effort.

This the Venteux Winery, a short walk from our house. I ride road bikes (bicycles). I'm on this road 90 seconds after rolling down my driveway. I ride for hours in those hills. The brown areas are dormant vineyards. Picture is looking west towards the ocean, which is just 11 miles away "as the crow flies".

I live in Monmouth County NJ. Moved here in 1993 from the NYC boroughs to escape all the ills of the City. We are happy here both of my children and grandchildren live within 15 minutes of us. Crime is low here and we feel quite safe here. I do like living in a small community and couldn't live in the a rural area. Nothing wrong with that just not for me and mine. I like the 4 seasons and couldn't deal with hot weather all year round.

You're living somewhere near Swedesboro or Woolwich Twp.

While there are many reasons to live in South Texas (weather, beaches, overall affordability, etc.), it's the people that make Corpus Christi a real gem. Despite a population north of 300K, our city has a small town feel where neighbors actually know each other and where everyone feels welcome. And while we're indeed growing, real estate studies show most new residents are coming from elsewhere in Texas in lieu of from the Midwest, northeast, or west coast, keeping us relatively free of left-wing intrusion. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
