What is your home's voltage today (07/02/2026)?

I live on the coast in a resort area in the deep South. Today Saturday July 4th 4:30 pm 88 F. the hotels are full today so lots of people in town with the AC on!
My voltage is normal rock solid 121V but NOT today Its 114 Volts... I have never seen 114, I think I may have seen 119 once but its always 121 but not today!

True. It's interesting to me the long term accuracy regarding it.
Long-term accuracy of a synchronous-motor clock tends to be much better than the short-term, because the system compensates for short-term error.

121.8 volts here now, in the hottest part of the day, versus as low as 120.5 earlier this afternoon. Normally it hangs out near 124VAC.

That was up through Saturday. Today we've got a bit of sag happening (don't mind the 0 for the current hour, not sure why it does that):

Ok, so now I have something else to buy;) Im all out of meters.

and ... for the first time I can remember, on this HOT July 7th morning our electric power went down but only lasted 60 seconds. Since it is so rare, I was thinking this might be a longer duration.

After seeing as low as 113 Volts the last few days when the norm has been 121 the last 10 years not that its related but yesterday morning my power turns off with that delayed sound from a Sub station a few miles away going "pop" and then 45 seconds power on, 20 seconds, back off and this continues a good 5-6 times. Last time this happened a few years ago I lost my HVAC Capacitor so I call the power company and I'm patched through to a guy in the field but he knew my area as said it was resolved and name the street the issue happened and said it was as a corrosion issue ( I do live next to the ocean ) but corrosion issue?

I'm is South Carolina and I feel the once GREAT Santee Cooper Power Utility has failed me and the people of this State ( If you Know you Know ), Was fast at closing the reliable Coal plant that served me during the Obama years with Solar and battery dreams and now I'm getting 113V and replacing HVAC parts power brownout! Feels more like Cuba than Carolina!

The failed VC Summer Nuke plant that left SC folks on the hook for billions and never generated 1 kW was just announced a day or so ago its once again will be built! So how many Billions of SC money this go round Santee?

Personally. I think some Santee Copper executives should have receive jail time.

When I moved to the area 20+ years ago Santee Copper IMO was the best Utility in the Country, you get a few Execs and Gvt Leader with a war on coal and pixie dust visions of Solar cells, batteries and wind this is what you end up with... NEWHigh demand hours Summer 3-6 pm, Winter 6-9 am started this last year, So now IF I wash my clothing, use my HVAC or a light bulb I pay 8X the kWh during these high peak time! This is 3rd world Country Crap ! I would like to take a shower when I get home from work!

Why could a new coal plant not be built to replace the one torn down a few years back?
And we now have a Housing boom and electric cars connecting to my no limited 113Volts!

Its not the voltage it's the frequency.
Drop below 59.6hz and the clocks start ticking. They have 20 minutes to increase frequency or power plants start disconnecting from the grid.
They auto disconnect at 59.4hz.
Voltage is the easy part.
What happens when frequency drops too low and their is no disconnect? Are the power plants not sync'd and the turbines are placed under more stress i.e. fighting with each other?

It's hard to replace a spinning mass generator with a solar cell during high demand.

They don't disconnect they started fighting each other.
The problem is usually the whole entire power grid isn't running 59.x, the power plants closest to the heavy loads are the ones slowing down. A hydroelectric plant on the edge of the power grid could still be clocking a perfect 60hz.
