Fast Car by Tracy Chapman. Guess it suits my mindset. Poignant and thoughtful.

And yet Rock Superstar by Cypress Hill takes second. Did I mention I like many kinds of music?

Or maybe Metallica, Wherever I May Roam, the greatest metal song ever.

It depends.
My all-time is probably Back in the USSR.
My current at-work playlist consists of these accountants' favorites, among others:
Commie Drives a Nova-Ike Reilly
Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth-Dandy Warhols
Bohemian Like You-Dandy Warhols
Last in Line-Dio
Cherub Rock-Smashing Pumpkins
Back Against the Wall-Cage the Elephant
Ain't no Rest for the Wicked-Cage the Elephant
Black on Black II-Heart
Nightime for the Generals-CSN

Depends on the mood.

Its a tough call.

Kenny Wayne sheppard, Blue on Black.

Oasis, You know what I mean.

Lately, Gary jules, Mad world. lol.

Nice to see another Moodies fan. My all time favorite by them and my favorite is "Are You Sitting Comfortably" But they have soo many.
Thats a good one too. I have spent most of my time age 27- 55 listening to the classical repertiore, e.g; Sibelius, Stravinsky, Tchaikovski, Beethoven, Bach, Handel ... .

Many, many times this great song has sent chills down my spine. Sublimely good lyrics apply today.

Quote:

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then the one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in the relative way, but you're older
And shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away, across the field, tolling on the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
And hear the softly spoken magic spell

Rush - "Available Light"

This song was the culmination of their 80's era keyboard/emotionally charged songs, but w/o any overplaying. Too bad this one never made it to the live set list.

Pablo, whats the story with that first version you posted, the Demo.....where is the Gilmour solo? I've never heard that version with the Gilmour solo removed. Man am I glad that isn't the version that made the album.

How about five?

Connected - Stereo MC's
Let it Rock - Kevin Rudolph
When Love Takes Over - Guetta/Rowland
Orinoco Flow - Celtic Woman
Rush - Big Audio Dynamic II

Diverse enough?

Yeah - just odd versions on You Tube. People pretty much only know the radio version.

Brothers in Arms / Dire Straits

But it's hard to pick just one. A bunch of Roger Waters songs are coming to mind as well... Amused to Death... Too Much Rope...

Going back aways if anyone else can remember

Ghost Riders In The Sky----------Vaughn Monroe
The Wayward Wind-----------------Gogi Grant
The Big Hurt---------------------Toni Fisher (thats Miss Toni)

I like the live versions that I have, but that version without the Gilmour solo, not so much. Sounds like a mix that Waters would do when Dave wasn't around....lol

Thanks for posting the link to that version though. Do you know if that was a studio outake? Where did it come from, if you know.
