Ya it works but it's mostly solvent so it doesn't lube long and it can attract dirt. Works awesome as a cleaner/drier though.I was going to say. Everyone seems to hate WD-40...

Most likely it was dielectric grease, which is silicone based.In the 1980s Ford used some sort of white grease on electrical terminals. I think it is white lithium grease. Some replacement terminals came filled with this grease.
