Being out of work gets you doing a lot of weird things, and for me finding little projects that don't need to be done!

That's like asking what is the best oil... there's not really a difinitve answer.

I've tried EVERYTHING under the sun, but in the end, the higher end products left my wallet lighter but didn't leave me any MORE fulfilled than the mid grade stuff. It's all pretty subjective. I've seen some REALLY inpressive finishes, some by Zanio, others by Turtle Wax.

I usually use Meguiars stuff, only because IMHO, it's a good blend of product vs. price, and it's incredibly easy to find. To each their own though...

I've never tried Collinite, but have used Zaino Bros, Meguiar's Gold Glass and NXT, all of the Mothers, and OTC Zymol.

Up until recently, my favorite was Zaino, with Meguiar's NXT in a distant 2nd.

But I recently sampled 3 (out of 5) of the Motorcraft detail products (Motorcraft detail wash, Motorcraft polish followed by Motorcraft wax) and I was hands down blown away. I will not be buying Zaino again.

I skipped the 1st two steps (Acid Neutralizer and Alkaline Neutralizers) simply because 1 gallon of each cost almost $40 a piece. 1 gallon of the detail wash is around $30. Wax and polish are about $10 a piece.

The Motorcraft detailing products are expensive, but awesome.

I've also sampled the Motorcraft Triple Clean a long time and was amazed by that stuff too, but it took me a while to realize that the rest of their chemical line is really that good too.

What prompted you to do that? I assume they relabel someone else's stuff.

You assume incorrectly.

Let me guess, you think aftermarket means automatically better?

Here's a shocker, but 9 out of 10 times it isn't.

Do you know who makes the MCraft stuff?

For the record I think most of the OEM car care products are pretty good. They have to meet all sorts of engineering-derived specs and be approved by all the relevant depts. The products are heavily tested and evaluated prior to release, which is a lot more than the vast majority of junk sold to consumers at retail.

I have no idea who manufactures it, but they aren't rebottled versions of anything you get at the auto parts store. I've tried virtually all of those before.

There are still a lot of companies even the majors that makes products that are not sold OTC

I'm sure Ford commissions one of the major manufacturers for the products, but they meet Ford specs and requirements, not the manufacturer's. This stuff is serious, no foo foo cherry scents here, just crazy results.

1. Acid Neutralizer- http://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.co...Prep%20Products
2. Alkaline Neutralizer - http://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.co...Prep%20Products
3. Detail Wash (bright green and smells like Captain Morgan) http://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.co...Prep%20Products
4. Polish - http://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.co...Prep%20Products
5. Wax - http://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.co...Prep%20Products

OK, I'll tell. It's made by Automotive Int'l of Cincinnati.

I've used the 3 step paint neutralization system and it works as advertised. I have their ETR trim kit and while messy and a bit of a PITA, it too works. Their other stuff gets high marks from pro detailers. Not really a consumer line as they focus their efforts on the trade and car dealers, but you can order direct from their store.

I've used Liquid Glass and was happy with it. I switched to Rejex and found that to be better, IMO. As soon as the weather breaks and I find the time to do a nice exterior detail I plan on trying Collonite 476s because of all the positive feedback its gotten on this board.

By looking at the MSDS of both, it is clear the Motorcraft Detail Wash is completely different from the Valugard Detail Wash, there also appears to be a slight difference in the Alkaline Neutralizer.

The clear coat polishes and finishing waxes also appear to be completely different.

As expected, it looks like what they offer under their own name is not the exact product they provide to the OEMs. At least not to Ford...
