What is the best wax to protect from the elements?

Pablo, which Collinite did you use? My wife's car sits outside down here in Virginia in the beating sun and 476S seems to hold up pretty well. The last time I applied it was Thanksgiving 2012 and water still beads-up nicely.

I live in the Southeast and have used Klasse AIO & SG for over 10 years.

SG will provide UV protection you're looking for.

Use with confidence!

845. I'm NOT putting down Collinite. Next month or so I will use 915. Oh and water still beads up fine. There is something still there, but the wax component is gone.

Gotcha. I use 845 on my Subaru but I apply it every 3-4 months so it always looks pretty sharp. Let us know how the 915 works out, I've been pondering that one for a bit.

I have tried many products, for a vehicle that is outdoor all the time, use whatever u like best, but apply more often. Florida weather is harsh on ur paint job. If u like McGuires, then just apply once a month vs every 3 months.

Rejex is probably the most protective. It's an aviation product, originally designed to prevent jet exhaust from sticking into paint.

It works well on cars too.

My Cessna 177RG has very old paint. I buff it up and coat with rejex. It lasts longer than anything else I've tried.

Our Pilatus PC12 also does best with rejex.

Collinite 845 and a quick wax like ice spray wax with UVA and UVB protection, 303 has a quick detailer with spf40.
Whatever you use, maintenance is key.

Not knowing the difference (and more importantly, not *caring* about the difference) between wax and sealant, if you want long lasting, you have to go with a sealant. So the question would be, which wax/sealant will give me the longest protection from elements? Collinite tells you that even their so called permanent wax just approaches the durability of good sealant.

CQuartz UK, Opti-Coat 2.0, C.A.R. Bullet Proof Coating are all options.

So far, I'd say the easiest one to apply is C.A.R. Bullet Proof. It goes on/off just like a wax. I don't have enough experience it with its durability, though.

However, all of these coatings are going to require some amount of prep work. You will need to first polish the vehicle, followed by removing any remaining polishing oils, then apply the coating.

Bulletproof sure sounds like a relabeled cquartz. Look at the instructions...they are almost verbatim from Car Pro's website.

845 is going to still flash off in high heat. yea, try the other even more durable offerings from collinite, before final judgement that NO wax will meet your expectations. Especially if you're putting in elbow grease every 3weeks. Change it up, you might get a different result

Water beads very well at first, but after a couple rain showers it doesnt bead as well, even after washing it. There is one spot on rear driverside door that looks to be getting hazy so I want to keep it waxed and protected best I can. I am not overly concerned about the wax providing a shine, I just want the best protection. What would be the best affordable, and easy to obtain option(s)?

I live in FL as well, so I know what you are dealing with.

Your best option would be to prep the car properly and apply one of the coatings (CarPro Cquartz UK or Opti-coat) as The Critic mentioned. If you don't want to put that much time and effort into it, the two most durable waxes I have used are Collinite 476 and Finish Kare 1000P. They are both very durable and should easily last 4-5 months in our environment. Some would say they last longer, as the protection is still there, but once the beads start to flatten out, I say it's time to reapply. Another great option would be the Duragloss 601/105 combo. That is a sealant and will provide 6-7 months protection in my experience.

Also, no matter what product that you use, you need to ensure that the surface is really clean. It will enhance the bonding of whatever LSP you use and increase it's durability. You can do an IPA wipe down or CarPro makes a product that's called Eraser that works well.

I have both on my car right now - Bulletproof works nothing like CQuartz UK. The application process for Bulletproof is much friendlier.

I think I am going to go with Klasse. Seems simple enough and provides good protection.

You'll probably be disappointed by it.

I found Rejex to be very good. I tried Nufinish and wasn't impressed at all. The shine is not that good, and the water beads are very large as opposed to Rejex, and Collinite 845 which I also like. The water beads formed from those products are very small, and act almost like when Mercury is spilled on glass. OTOH the Nufinish beads are large and flat. Does that matter? I don't really know. I would think the smaller and tighter the beads the better the wax resists dirt and the elements. I do need some schooling on the topic though.

I just looked at the cquartz uk, i must admit it makes good claims, i may have to try it. It claims to prevent water marks. I'm on a well, so every time i wash, i have to use wax as you dry to prevent hard water marks. Cquartz uk claims you can just wipe these off with out them adhering. I may order some of this.

Critic...why? I dont want to start something here, but it seems like if it isn't a coating, its not good in your book. I agree that coatings have their benefits, but you said it yourself...many coatings lose their look as time goes on, just like a sealant or wax. Klasse, though "old," is still a great sealant. When layered, it will run with the best of them.

To the OP....Try Finish Kare 1000p. You'll get amazing durability, especially with two coats. It'll handle high temps and releases dirt extremely well.

Because he is the Critic!! lol!

I've seen the pics of cars he has done, amazing, I don't have the time to devote. But again i may consider the cquartz uk if it does what it promises with water marks.

I've yet to see anything that stands up to water spots and water marks.....and I have CQuartz UK on my personal car right now.
