What is optimum interval for oil change?

That's what my Civic's Maintenance Minder recommends for my driving conditions, about 230 gallons of gas per OCI. I've decided to just go by the MM and stop counting gallons at least until I'm out of warranty.

I am old school I run YB in the wifes Sequoia and Max Life in my Silverado.. For the last 20 years I have done 3 months or 3000 miles what ever comes first.. I know you can go longer but with my intervals I know I never have to worry...

Under warranty the optimum OCI is whatever the manufacturer recommends.

Out of warranty there are so many possibilities

I use Syn and change mine every 5k. Some say it's over kill, but i like over kill

In a nutshell, the optimal OCI is as long as possible without sludge, varnish, or oil contamination. The number in miles will vary for different car/oil/service combinations.
