My 92 Dodge (2.5) uses about one quart of 5w30 conventionalevery 1000 miles.I drive about 1000 miles a month of mixed highway and city driving. I usually change oil and filter at 4500-5000 miles.Since I am basically replenishing the overall additive package, can I extend the change interval another 1000- 2000 miles?

Probably not an issue; there have been several discussions on this on the boards.

My concerns would be taken care of with a used oil analysis; in all the threads I have not seen one done in this situation.

My biggest concern would be are you sure you are adding a quart every 1,000 miles? If you are tracking it then yes you should easily be able to go at least 7-8,000 miles between changes. How many quarts with filter is your capacity? If it is 5 quarts you are replacing a large percentage over the first 5,000 miles.

Run a Long oci filter like, bosch distance plus or Mobil 1, and change the filter and oil every 10k or once a year. You are turning your oil over every 5k by adding a quart every 1000 anyway.

The long life filter idea makes sense, but oil contaminants don't just disappear because new oil is added, some fine particles and insolvents do build up, so a used oil analysis would be a good idea to confirm the OCI extension is OK.
If you are burning oil at 1qt per 1K miles it might be time to find out why and consider moving up a grade to an High Mileage Xw40 oil.
