What is going on with MMO and auto R-X in my LS1

Before you start telling me that there is no relation, let me give you some general background. My car is a 2001 LS1 camaro Z28 that I have owned it since new. Also, a connecting rod in factory the motor snapped at 80,000 miles and I had it replaced (thank *** for extended warrentey) with an LS1 from a 2002 Corvette (35,000 miles)a few months ago. Whe following has happened with BOTH motors, exactly the same way.

I did the first "clean" Auto Rx on the original motor at 50,000 miles and on the used motor, the Auto Rx was used in the first oil fill. During the rinse phase, I added a quart of Marvelous mystery oil to the 17 gallon fuel tank and filled up. This is about 4-8 times what the directions called for and was stupid to do so, I already know this. Within a tankfull, the check engine light came on and didin't go off. I went to auto zone to have the code read and both times, it was a catalytic converter failure. I just lived with it, as we don't do emissions here in Florida. Here is the freaky part....BOTH TIMES, the light WENT OFF within 25 miles of adding a 3-4 oz maintinance dose of auto Rx after the rinse cycle was complete. Anyone familiar with the LS1 that can shed some light on this for me, my curiousity is now peaked. The first time, I wrote it off as unrelated coincidance, but the second tome, to me indicates more of a cause and effect relationship. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and just to remind you again, I do know I added too much MMO to the gas tank.

Most codes are cleared after a certain number of on/off cycles of the key.

Since it happened about the same time (3525 miles) I'm guessing your driving habits stay pretty consistant.

I'm wagering it was a coincidance.

I cleared the codes, I think by disconnevting the battery this time and the code went away, only to reappear within 50 miles. Since the code went away after adding auto Rx, it has not come on. I am wondering if the auto rx caused it and fixed it???? For what it worth, both times that I added the maintinance dose, it was to M-1 extended 15,000 mile oil.

Auto-Rx caused it because it cleaned all the "dirt" etc on the sensor. Auto-Rx fixed it because it rinsed off all the "dirt" left on the sensor.Maintenance amount does continue to keep your "gains' consistent.

I could be wrong, but I think the sensor(s) are not in the cat themselves, but are the O2 sensors that are before, and in my vehicles case with OBD2, and after the cat. Signal swings relative to each sensor, or even just from one that is before the cat, that are out of range with a predetermined value and in relation to other input signals, will trigger a fault code.

Perhaps the O2 sensor(s) have deposit build-up that have come upstream from all the cleaning and dislodging.

Good luck.

how does arx get to the post cat o2?
or the pre cat?i would expect the high exhaust temps to break down the very small amount that would be expelled with any burned oil.

Thanks KC8, glad I am not the only one. I am home that Frank just didn't read it correctly. I don't see anyway that ARX could have cleaned the post cat 02 sensor.
