California.
California law requires gas stations to supply free air and water to customers.
Around here Quik Trip and MotoMart both have free air.
So does the Lowe's Home Store, FWIW.

My experience is otherwise. The Costco tire centers have had the air, not the gas station. The tire centers have had different hours than the gas station, and the last time I needed air I had to wait about 40 minutes until the tire center opened and turned on the air pump. I don't recall for sure right now, but I may have had to use my Costco card to get the air pump to work ...

In my area none. It's either you go to some tire shops like NTB, Discount Tire, Firestone, Goodyear and such. Walmart has some several years ago but they discontinued. Lowe's got air station for everyone to use but mostly out of order or sometimes vandalized. I get my own free air courtesy of my Craftsman air compressor.
Out here at parents and brother and sis in Les there are 2 Sheetz within 5 miles of each other

That’s how it is here too with some of them. But I see all of them very busy all the time.
