What for treating rubber and weatherstripping?

that's actually a really good idea provided critters dust a d dirt don't get in...

Are doors usually watertight to rain on the first latch?

I have a feeling that is more for garaged cars...
 
But there can still be bugs and critters in a garage.... As wellas dust. And on nice days it is a nice idea for outside in controlled areas.

Understood. I was talking more about the rain/water dripping through. I don't think dust or bugs can quite get through the spaces that water can.

:)
 
I will have to run by an Ace Hardware. I checked at walmart and they had no silicone spray. Home Depot had PB brand but it had petroleum in it.

Get you some Jig-A-Loo. It is a non petroleum silicone lubricant. I've found it at Ace Hardware and True Value. I use it on all my weatherstripping and rubber seals.


AAP sells Jig-A-Loo for about $4 and also Jig-A-Loo Graphite Extreme lubricant for about $4 a can. Check out their website: www.jig-a-loo.com
 
I went by Northern tool and they had stuff called Mag1 silicone spray. It was $4 but I didnt get it. I will get some Jig a Loo or syl glide.
