Can you show me/us where the AMSOIL is stated to meet or exceed the GM 9986115 spec? I went to the website and looked at this product (seems very good, BTW) but no actual claim it will meet the GM requirement.quote:

It also meets & exceeds GM requirements.
That's good to know. Thanx for the heads-up. How many miles are you going on it?quote:

How many miles did you have on the grape juice before you changed it?quote:

I will probably leave the Royal Purple in for several years since I don't drive a whole lot, now that the majority of the new wear break-in crud or whatever that stuff is/was has been removed.
Here is the response I got from AMSOIL:quote:

Well I guess the guy above my post answered your question.. but on my part not only did I call my Local Amsoil Sales rep, but he gave me a ton of literature. On the New Extreme Gear Severe Gear Lube Information Sheets, it clearly states "meets GM requirements for #xxxxxxxx" I wouldnt have used it otherwise. I even called my Dealer Parts department and spoke to a tech at a local Dealership. I had the parts dept manager and a experienced Tech tell me it would be good, if not better than the OEM fluid.quote:

I have contacted several oil maufacturers and have been repeatedly told that the only fluid that will meet the GM spec is that expensive, er, stuff sold by the dealer. It is a Texaco product, FWIW....
Believe me, I would gladly pay a third party supplier but as of yet I have not found one that will specifically claim, in writing, that their gear oil will satisfy the GM requirements.
Thanx
Bob W.
Actually, the tech I spoke with said he replaced his G80 axle fluid in his pickup with Royal Purple- so there "are" alternatives to the GM OEM fluid you buy at the parts dept.
I cant believe that axle fluid came out of of a TB or Envoy with less than 20k miles!!!! Mine had around 67k when I changed mine and I cant believe it was as bad as it was. Its important to get the word out to all G80 or 4 wheel drive TB or Envoy owners before they do any damage un-knowingly.
