it appears that they changed the filter spec. I can only find a listing for Purolator L22500. I dont know whats on there - it belongs to a friend 300 miles away and he cant find a listing.
What filter on a 2010 Ford Escape 3.0?

Motorcrafts would work well for that application. 5-20 semi syn or Full Synthetic and MC filter

Go to Tituswillfordparts.com. They have the FL500S's for about 5-6 bucks each which is about half of what it lists at the dealer (12 bucks IIRC). The FL500 has not yet made it into the Wal-mart inventory of Motorcraft filters yet. I bought 6 from that website for my 09 escape 3.0 that came to about 7-8 bucks each shipped. I don't trust the aftermarket filters on something this new. The air filter is also in the same boat (its a cone filter not a panel like aftermarket sites say will fit).

Once again, in their infinite wisdom (??) Ford changes things.
The 3.0 in my '04 Freestyle used the standard FL820S; the 3.0 in my '08 Taurus "X" uses the FL400S; now they're using ANOTHER one on the '10 3.0.
I feel for the parts guys..

The 3.0 in my '04 Freestyle used the standard FL820S; the 3.0 in my '08 Taurus "X" uses the FL400S; now they're using ANOTHER one on the '10 3.0.

The 08 Taurus X has a 3.5L V6 not a 3.0. The older freestyle had the 3.0L The 3.5L is also the same used in some Edge's, Flex's and even some of the new 2011 cars today. It's a pretty good engine actually.

I recently bought 6 Motorcraft FL500S filters from RockAuto.com for $5.95 each including shipping.
PH 500 in champ labs at my work place. Just sayin.
Grab the Motorcraft filters for sure. As for where to buy you will have to grab in bulk on the web to get the best prices.
My AAP has 500S for around $6+. I checked yesterday, but went with the PureOne for the MKZ.
These can be had in cases on e-bay from dealers for a reasonable price.
