What does Mobil 2000 correspond to in the US

From the label it says its an High Mileage oil designed for up to 10,000 km. But so far in trying to find anything more on 'Mobil 2000' I'm not finding any useful info.

As there are a lot of Mobil guys here I'm hoping one of you guys might be able to help decipher it. Its on sale at Canadian Tire this week for a good enough price to consider buying - if I can get some hard data on it.

From what I can tell, its a slightly different marketing plan to the US Mobil Clean line. The additives are different though. The Super line is basically on its own.

They make a Super 3000 in europe too. Its a synthetic. Weird.

Sounds like Mobil Clean 7500 which is a Synthetic Blend that supposed to go for 7,500 miles

I'm already running (Marvel) Mystery Oil. Really don't want to add in another MMO (Mobil Mystery Oil).

Maybe - but why the line on the label that its meant for HM engines, that's what's throwing me off in figuring it out.

In digging I found a PDS with some basic info on it:

From the PDS:

Mobil Super 2000 is formulated from a combination of synthetic and conventional quality base stocks combined with modern performance additives, including an advanced cleaning additive system to provide excellent engine cleanliness, protection for higher mileage vehicles. These oils help protect against sludge, piston deposits, engine rust and corrosion under severe and lowtemperature operating conditions. Pour depressants and a viscosity index (VI) improver are included, where required, to provide the optimum viscosity and fluidity over a wide range of temperatures. Mobil Super 2000 is available in two multi-viscosity grades: SAE 5w30, and 10w30. Both grades contain friction-reducing additives. The American Petroleum Institute (API) classifies these viscosity grades as "Energy Conserving" engine lubricants, and meet ILSAC GF-4 and also meet API SM.

Developed and made in Canada.

For the 5W30:

Pour point: -40C
Flash point: 214C
cSt@40C: 63.5
cSt@100C 10.7
Viscosity index: 166

All good, I just wish I knew what the additives were.

Edit: the 10W30 is very similar, the biggest difference being its VI of 144.

Spyder that description sounds like just about any decent oil on the market - the vague advertising speech on the bottles or on the data sheet.

The Mobil super line came out a year or two a ago here in Canada, sorry I have no experience with it or anything better to give you. I didn't see the CT flyer this week and yours may very well be different in NL anyway what price are they selling it for?

$15 bucks for 5L. Its the first time I've seen any Mobil oil priced competitively here. I'd really like to know what the additive pack is, but not enough to do a VOA on it (the price is good, but not that good).

GTX HM is also on sale for the same price (4.4L bottle though), and Pennzoil Conventional in 1 quart bottles is on for $2.79. WM here has also had PP on rollback for $19.88. I'm planning on picking up PP if the rollback is still on, but if not these are interesting alternatives. Info on the Mobil Super 2000 is the hardest to find.

I don't know much about the 1000 (regular) line. The high mileage line wasn't as good for me as I had hoped. With my old, previously leaking F-150 with the 300, I had been using Valvoline MaxLife 5w30, and it kept the noise and leaks to a minimum. One OC, I had some trouble finding the MaxLife, so I opted for Mobil 2000, and it didn't seem to slow the leaks as well as MaxLife or HDEO did. It did fine with the general rattles of the engine.

That was merely my own personal experience, and certainly not a knock on the oil. I wanted to buy some Mobil 1000 the other day for another vehicle, and Walmart was totally sold out.

Perhaps 2000 is better at handling oil burning than it is at slowing leaks. I've tried other high mileage oils, and my best luck with leaks happened to be the MaxLife.

That's the big unknown, lacking any data on its HTHS & NOACK. Its flash is okay, but nothing outstanding. Its also a little thin compared to other High Mileage oils. Strip out the usual marketing jargon, and there's nothing persuasive in that PDS to consider it over anything else. I like MaxLife too, but the pricing here has gotten insane. Its too the point that I ignore everhything that isn't on a rollback or sale, and then I research it a bit and stock up if I'm satisfied its suitable and good value for the price. And that's the only time I buy oil anymore.

I've sort of noticed that, but haven't paid as much attention to MaxLife as I did when the vehicle was leaking. As an aside, this place has made me picky about prices.

You would have better luck trying to find it's Esso equivalent, because AFAIK it's an Imperial Oil formula.
