Maybe he likes to work? There are many seniors that do. Just because your old and wealthy (according to some) does not mean you have to dig a grave and check out.
Im not in the industry but no one is being taken advantage of with Medicare help lines that use personalities like his. Every single medicare policy has to be approved by medicare and many people can save a lot of money by going to an Advantage C program, most programs save seniors over $100 a month and closer to $200 or $300 a month considering the extra benefits.
No one size fits all but all these policies are available by zip code, just that some people aren't that great with computers these licensed companies can set you up in minutes for people who find it difficult to do on their own.
Im not promoting it in anyway but its a service that cost a senior nothing. They will let you know the plans available in your area from other companies and yes, for those who cant do their own searching you maybe directed more to what companies provides the best commission back to them but the senior isnt laying out any money. Its a sales business like any. Where else do they go? Private insurance is just that but in the seniors favor they cant pay any more then Medicare will allow which is great, dont know of anything else in this world where that is the rule.
For the heck of it, I just went to their website, punched in my zip code, NO other information needed. 28 plans From Atena, Humana and WellCare government approved Medicare plans popped up. If you want a plan, you fill in the info which is directly to the insurance provider, cost you nothing.
All these sites, including TV commercials earn nothing from the senior, they get a referral fee from clicking the link, EXACTLY like someone clicking on a link to lets say, Amazon.
With that said, just like an Amazon link those 28 plans are from three HUGE companies, all government approved, every single plan government approved (after all the government is paying for it) they are only presenting you with those 3 companies because they most likely get the most referral money from them, but there are many more companies you do not see, the big One is United Heath Care Medicare Plans, oh but guess what? UHC pays the AARP for exclusive rights to use their name.
So its all the same, the consumers have tons of choices and these commercials to me make them aware of other options other then paying large costs for supplemental coverage when in reality they dont have to pay anything (or very little)but what the government will pay for you with MANY more benefits that Medicare does not give such as vision, dental, drugs even gym memberships at no cost.
If anyone in here is looking for plans, compare but before doing anything check the features of United Health Care Medicare Advantage C plans. They are hard to beat in coverage and cost because they are just so HUGE being associated with (paying a royalty to) AARP
