Lennox 98% efficent forced air furnace that uses propane to heat just over 4200 square feet of home, set up in 4 different zones. Supplemented with heated floors in the kitchen, dining room, hallways, bathrooms and lower level rooms, wherever there is hard surface flooring.
My 36X36 shop building was heated by propane until last summer when I installed a waste oil heater. It was on a separate propane tank and not included with our home usage.
We built the house in 1998 and built it to the highest reasonable efficiency standards we could. Our propane use is around 700 gallons per year, and our electrical bills are usually between $75 and $90 per month, less in the spring and fall when we're not running any HVAC equipment.
And we live in an area that regularly sees sub-zero temperatures in the winter and humid 95+ temperatures in the summer.
