What do you think of the Mr. Clean car wash system?

Chris, I researched doing this and found that type of filtration really doesn't do what Mr. Clean does. Typical household filters only remove the solids in water. The Mr. Clean system goes further and removes dissolved impurities in an ion exchange process. It is those dissolved minerals that really cause spotting. Household filters will help but it really isn't the same thing.

i know they sell the ion exchange type filters in the common 9" size but i have difficulty finding them. I was thinking one of the large house-hold carbons for the prefilter and then a smaller 9" for the final filter if i could find the ion-exchange type easily. Or, perhaps you could do the 9" w/carbon block (5 micron or less) as a prefilter to the mr clean to make the mr clean system last longer...

solids are solids in water as are dissolved solids, and measured by PPM/ppb, i'm sure the test data on the mr clean system would show its typical reduction in those units. As would standard 9" filters.

Paint actually felt fairly smooth to be honest. I wax this truck usually one every month or two. Once I see the beads are getting larger I wait for a cool overcast day and wash and wax it. I'll prob wash and wax it again today. Havent waxed it in about a month and Im sure the summer heat is stripping the wax right off.

if you get one of those hose adapters with the multiple spray settings, the "soaker" setting will do pretty much the same thing.

The problem I have with the Mr. Clean system is the filter only seems to be good for about 2 washes. We have extrmely hard water, and it's just too expensive to replace the filter as often as is required. I think instead of wasting any more money on these filters I will spend the money to get our water softener fixed.

I'm actually done using the Mr. Clean wash kit. I washed my car this past weekend. While keeping the car in the shade the entire time, and re-rinsing each washed panel to keep it wet during the entire wash process, I achieved a completely spot-free wash. I'm sick of paying for the expensive filters that are only good for 2 washes. It would be different if they were good for 8-10 washes.

I was given MrCCW as a gift, I wouldnt have purchased it myself as I actually like cleaning my car and, well, I had my doubts going in to it.

At first I really enjoyed the lack of drying time, very convenient.

But I hated the sprayer! Holding, wrestling with it as well as the hose...then trying to set it down to physically wash the car. The thing is like a ******* iron that doesnt wanna stay upright. I also found the knob annoying...but not as bad as the over all design of the sprayer. Imagine washing your car with an iron...and it feels really stupid using it(what will the neighbors think?)

But my biggest complaint is the soap, its extremely sticky! I made the mistake of storing the bottle sideways(by accident) this left a sticky gelatinous goop. When using this soap in a bucket its stickiness becomes more obvious on your arms...and once the vehicle is clean(and dry), I find the car is sticky/tacky all over...this cant be good for keeping a car clean!

After replacing the filter and the soap once I gave up and went back to my normal routine...I gave the MrCCW to my mother who also has a car cleaning compulsion and could use the relief from drying...also I value her opinion on automotive cleaning products...but I dont believe shes using it anymore either.
