What do you experts say about this Ranger?

Had a 06 that was similar but a manual. Was a blast to drive and spun the wheels a bit too easy. That Duratec loves to rev and has a nice sound to it. Miss that truck sometimes! 9.9k is too much though.

$10,000 ?!?!?

I bought my 2008 F150 for $8100 with just a tick over 100K miles on it, and its a fully-optioned XLT.

I'd pass on that Ranger.

Thanks, I just found it online. I need to go see it and drive it.
Then make a offer.
I had a Ranger from 1990-2000. I MISS it.

Any Mileage, really.
My early 90's Ranger with a 2.3 has 284,000 miles on it.
Still the original fuel pump, miraculously!
Has had two clutches, though.

Nice truck, but they want too much for it. They're also smaller inside that the 80s models. I had an 86 and it was a bit roomier than the 06' I drove once.

the 4 banger is much better with a stick...i may be in the minority but i kinda like the 3.0 best in the ranger. the 4.0 is overkill and the 2.3 doesnt get all that great of mileage in a truck

That's about clean retail($9,650) price here in my area according to NADA. Clean trade-in is $7,100. If you can hit the middle of that, I would go for it. Trucks in my area command a premium, and it's been like that for years now.

That's exactly what I was thinking. That dealership is way too proud of that one.

I had a 85 Ranger with the 2.8 V6. Got 120k miles out of it but it ran poorly when cold. The Ford guys could never figure it out. Blew out headlights so often I kept spares. Also blew the ECU four times. First two were covered under warranty. Third blew at -10F at midnight. Two weeks later that new one blew. I fired the truck and bought a Toyota Tacoma. Best pickup I've owned.

I'm sure they have improved them since.

They are misquoting the EPA fuel economy numbers. Those numbers are for a stick shift which does better both city and highway. The automatic is actually rated 19/24.

I will add that there is an interesting history to the plant that truck was assembled in. The plant had a mine for making glass back in the day.

I prefer earlier models, extended cabs, and power windows. These are all personal preferences. You can't go wrong with these trucks. There is a Ranger in my family that has only needed maintenance and balljoints after 186k and 20 years. Maybe a tensioner pulley along the way.

Way too expensive for an 8 year old compact pickup. You can buy those around here all day long for much less than that, but they don't have the tire shine gobbed onto the tires.

Depending on where your at, small trucks command the highest premium of any used vehicle.

my 2007 in 2013 Colorado with 100,000 miles, loan value was $7,000 , it was paid for, but I refinanced it , for 2.3% free money at the time.

That vehicle today has 145,000 miles, hope I never have to buy another, hate buying vehicles. Especially since they run about $20,000 plus new, I paid about $12,000 for it new in 2006, dealer employee discounts, just a standard shift , standard cab.

It's got the cheesy fake fancy wheels that my 2001 came with. They hold water and rust. I replaced mine with steelies.

I would not get it with an automatic either. The 2.3 loves to wind out to the high 5000s (rev limiter on my 2001 is about 5800) and that is a lot more fun with a manual.

I do think it is a bit overpriced, but perhaps it is clean as a whistle too. Mine was pretty rusty underneath but then I only paid $3500 and it was 10 years old with 68,000 miles.

I have owned four Rangers.
The only way to have a 2.3 (and have any power) is with a five speed.
The 3.0 is slow and thirsty, but dependable as an anvil. See my signature. that will tell you how I know.
My favorite is the 4.0. Similar MPG but is fun and a little hot rod to drive.
If you plan on spending any time in it at all, you will wish you had a Supercab. The space in the rear makes all the difference.
I also think 10K is overpriced, particularly for a regular cab. However, they sell like hotcakes and clean ones around here are hard to find.

How much you want to look is an important factor.

If you're in love with Ford Rangers, that'll up your willingness to spend.

My personal preference for a vehicle like that is "little truck, little engine (with a manual).

Little trucks with autos drink gas 1 mpg less than a F-150. It hurts.
