What do you do with your down time?

I've always wanted to learn more about cars. I've tried to do most of the maintenance and minor repairs myself if possible. Luckily, my 11 year old camry is still running strong without any major problems. There's nothing else to do with my car besides 1 oil change 6 months from now.

So what do you guys do now with your down time? Driving around auto part shops looking for cheap oil deals? Checking BITOG and see what oil/filter/ATF to buy 20K miles from now? Re-watching Top Gear?
 
I have other hobbies also.

I love wrist wathches. I have over 70 of them from the late 1920's to present.

I love music of my generation. Still have all of my old LP's. Although I don't really listen to them anymore(probably need to sell'm).
 
I tinker with my car and my computers.
Ive been trying to learn more about electronics lately; namely computer power supplies and motherboards, etc. I have one blown power supply torn apart at the moment, trying to find the failure. I ended up ruining the board trying to remove components. Need to get a desoldering station to do it right. No big deal, it was dead before I looked at it. Im still going to find out why it died, however.
 
My children keep my very busy, so when I have down time, I either go for a bike ride, or relax in my recliner. I like tinkering with computer software, too.
 
I try and learn what I can about my cars. I have some wrenching experience thanks to my previous ride(Xterra) so I'm not afraid to work on a car. I just like reading about what I am about to do fully. I love messing with my PS3/Computers when I have time, which has been very rare these days(2 jobs).

I really really need to go fishing this spring/summer. I need to get some relaxation going on, I miss those summer days at the side of the lakes and ponds with my friends.

I would be very careful with this, I thought I was pretty good until the PS I repaired literally went up in smoke in one of my machines(thankfully I was there).
 
I guess I'm lucky most of my downtime happens at work and I waste it on BITOG and other websites.

Project cars are fun if your daily driver is too boring. My first was a dodge spirit with blown head gasket, fixed with instructions off the internet. I was as surprised as anyone when it started after I fixed it.

Working on cars, or going to wreckers to find rare/spare parts.
Building my crazy gaming PC and upgrading in general.
Mountain biking. (my next biggest love to cars)
Online gaming pretty much only during winter. I play a lot of Left 4 Dead 2 online with buddies. Fun game.
 
I thought being retired would provide a lot of down time. I was wrong. Other than the time I spend on here, I do some volunteer work, more involved in my church, and am taking two online Bible courses. Other than that, I shovel snow and keep the car full of gas for my wife.

Oh, there is that darn honey do list to fulfill.

Yes, Johnny, the biggest thing I noticed was that I went from a 5 day a week job to a 7 day a week job ??!!
When you are retired there is no weekend .....

I still sometimes try to do what I did when I was 35 but things usually take me longer to complete.

Then there is the granddaughters, that is almost a full-time job in itself. Getting ready for them, playing with and entertaining them... and then cleaning up after them.

I look forward to down time. I don't get much of it. I now have down time. Like Groucho, I'm using it to clean my house. It's beginning to look like something from Hoarders.
 
My downtime? Lemme see:

-small home reno projects: repaint kids bedroom, fixing bathroom faucets (mostly delta/Moen or GOBO which are totally rebuildable)

-improving energy efficiency of my home

-tube audio design and prototyping.

-Coleman gas appliance collection/restoration

-servicing my list of clientele's automobiles

-study networking.

...etc.

Since I don't have much of an automobile-related downtime, it just means that I don't have the much needed time to pursue the aforementioned activities.

Forgot to add that I also collect fountain pens and practice calligraphy.
