What did you reload today

I haven't been able to load any .338LM because of COVID and the reloading setup being out at my buddy's place in the sticks. Hit up the local store today as I'm really low, down to about a box and a half of it and figured I'd grab some .308 as I fired a box yesterday.

Yes, that's $126.99 for 20.

Hi Overkill.
Is the .338 Lapua difficult to own in Canada? Whilst not impossible, it is certainly not easy to get one licensed in UK.

Hi
Seems a lot more sensible than our system. I would have to prove why i actually needed a 338.

That's awful!

My big girl is made in Canada (Quebec) by CADEX Defence, which the French Special Forces use (in this calibre). I believe there are a few other Euro SF teams that use them as well. They are beautiful rifles.

Hi.
It is not easy being a shooter and firearm enthusiast in Britain. Note i said Britain and not UK. Northern Ireland still allow handgun ownership.

I could own a .338 but it would mean me joining an association with access to a range that is suitable for that cartridge. Whilst theoretically possible to get one licensed for hunting in reality it will not happen. Police just ask what are you going to shoot that warrants a 338? Why not just use a 30-06? They think bigger means more dangerous .

That is a fantastic rifle you have there. I also like the PGW Defence Timberwolf. If i did ever persist and go down the 338 route and i could afford, i would like an Accuracy International,.

My .338 LM is an old Sako 995. Two that interest me are the CZ Badlands and Sako 85 composite.
On topic, I loaded 558 rounds in December, 2020. About 190 of them were 300 Win Mag with 200 ELDX bullets.
Another 100 or so 7mm Rem and 7mm-08 with 150 ABLR and 162 ELDX. Another 150 or so 6.5x55 with 143 ELDX and 142 ABLRs. The rest were .325 WSM, some with Barnes 160 TTSX.
I buy 195 Hornady 8mm ILs quite often because of the cost. I think I have about 25 left out of 2 boxes of 100.

Hi.
Well on topic, i loaded bugger all. No Deer hunting here unless you do it for a living and no target shooting. All due to lockdown.

That's beautiful.

What do you use for targets?

Whatever is available. We are on "shooting rig" #2, as we destroyed the first one. This one is more robust and has more stuff. It features:

1. Flexplate (for the .22)
2. 1" thick wear plate (for doing like dozer blades) it gets "pocked" by .300wm and .338LM
3. Some 1/4" square tube, the rifles go straight through this
4. A sledgehammer head, this is very durable like the wear plate
5. Some heavy angle iron
6. Large (1") rebar

I also typically bring out hard drives to destroy and lately we've been nailing expired fire extinguishers.

I like it.

I've always had an interest in firearms. Good luck getting them in NJ and I got scammed pretty well (fake cops... fake FFLs.. okay) and I don't know if you know I've survived getting shot???? ... so all this is awesome.

I used to shoot Rockstar cans with my .177 Crosman Phantom 1000 air rifle.

OVERKILL, do you "plink" at soda or beer or cans/bottles?

No, those aren't typically what you'd shoot at with much beyond a .22. The 1" rebar is a fun profile to hit, being reasonably narrow.

You probably told us, but.. do you use any "steel penetrator" rounds? Or, do you need to keep finding things to challenge the .338 Lapua Magnum (.338LM?)

Pretty big .

AP rounds aren't legal for civilian possession in Canada, so just FMJ's, JHP's and SP's.

JHP - Jacketed Hollow Points?

How are those? (Are those the ones that DO go through everything due to "Mushrooming" or they DON'T because they are designed to stop)

Got a multitude of options loaded for my new Kimber Micro9. These were just the dummy rounds made up for fit and hand cycle function, but now there's 250 ready to burn.
