I treated myself to a new watch, a Steinhart Vintage GMT in 39MM.
Funny how you remember some Christmases, and forget others. I well recall getting a Mattel Shootin' Shell gunfighter set with holster when I was 10 (and I had a cold that Christmas); at 11, an Aurora Model Motoring set (and it was less exciting somehow than it had seemed); at 12, the 1/12 scale assembly kit of the 1937 Cord 812; at 13, the 1/8 scale Revell Jaguar XKE kit. I built that one with Revell cement, and my mother kept it. When she passed away 20 years later, I found it. Aside from the door handles falling off, it was still intact. Wish I'd kept it.
At 13, too, I got my first *real* watch, a Timex Electric. $40 in 1966, boys.
Since then, the memories are hazy. Mrs. Benzadmiral No. 1 bought me a topcoat that was too big; No. 2, a Harris Tweed jacket that I no longer have. But aside from that, I don't recall specific presents or years.
