What did you get for Christmas or Hanukkah?

Gifts on holidays are for the kids, here. We adults do give gifts to each other but those occasions are generally not tied to holidays but they are more of a spontaneous nature. I remember Dad telling me when I was little that every day was Mother's Day.

Usually gifts are spontaneous or for birthdays for adults. But it’s actually a lot of fun now that our kids are slightly older, to take them shopping, discuss giving, and keeping fun secrets on stuff we get for each other.

That’s actually the most fun of the Christmas gift giving, to get my kids excited for what they and I get for my wife.

We also always adopt a needy family. And have the kids save through the year to help give. It’s pretty rewarding for all. We never meet the family, but it’s nice to know that they’ll have something vs next to nothing.

Every day is Mother’s Day. I like that. I’m going to use it too.

Some new shirts and a pair of jeans which I've been needing but best of all a new and rather large oil stain from what ended up being a leaky oil cooler line when I returned from getting donuts. I ended up tying a cotton rag to the metal crimp once it cooled down just for now, I just pressure washed the driveway two weeks ago worst of all. I'll remove the lines and cut the crimps off and put new hoses and proper clamps on it.

If this counts I got this for myself. Very excited. Especially excited for the free 2 day delivery too. Hopefully dad is home on Friday to sign for it. Very very excited I’ve wanted a watch for a long time. Didn’t realize the extra band was $49.00 oh well lol. I’ve still got money in my savings and I’m happy with what I got so very very excited. My mom gave me an extra $100 towards it so technically it’s partly from her as well.

A bunch of things I really didn't need anyhow.

The better gift was being able to visit my extended family. I got to treat my Grandmother in her 90s to a nice dinner at the best restaurant in town and the chance to show her the Christmas lights in her community. I'm blessed to still have her and want to take advantage of the time I have left with her.
