In 2009 it would have come from the factory with G12++, Zerex G40 is equivalent to that.
Or, go to your nearest VW dealer and buy a jug of G13, same inhibitors as G12++, the only difference is it replaces 20% of the Ethylene Glycol with Glycerol.

VW G12++ or G13, the two can be mixed. It's also sold as Zerex G40 and it's the new Mercedes coolant now.

Universal, or also sometimes called All Makes All Models coolant, should be renamed to : No Makes , No Models.

Don't pay VW dealer prices for G13. Most are pink (G12++) or purple (G13) although I did once see a dark green G13!

G12++ or G13 but you will need a vacuum filling tool to do this properly if you drain it.
For the love of all that is holy do not use the all makes/models, DexCool, etc! G12++ or G13 only. I was able to pick up a gallon jug of G13 concentrate for under $20 at my local dealer. It intermixes with the G12++ just fine. My local Autozone carries both and I'm pretty sure it's pre-mixed.
