Have we missed letting an engine drip drain overnight ?
I have two.Still have a bottle of AutoRX brand new
Always a classic.Have we missed letting an engine drip drain overnight ?
Plan the first oil change before buying the car?Buy a brand new car excited and state when you plan on changing oil far too early and potentially multiple times.
Takes more than one hand to count on your fingers the number of battery chargers you have!Spends $500 on battery chargers to maintain a $150 battery. Guilty as charged.
I use to do thisAlways a classic.
I was always afraid overnight humid air would get in thru the open drain hole and rust something. I am a "when it turns from a stream to a drip drip drip then I done" guy.Always a classic.
In no particular order but my top 10:
1. Be either a millionaire or dirt poor but give absolute financial advice.
2. Agree the P71 Crown Vic, Dodge Caravan or Hyundai Genesis (5.0 Only) are the best vehicles.
3. Have your posts moved by moderators on a weekly basis, likely of political nature.
4. Have a 20 quart stash of the most recent fanboy oil (VRP, HPL, German Castrol etc).
5. Agree with the moderators no matter what and always cite a personal friendship with them.
6. Have a brother/ cousin/ neighbor with every car in every thread.
7. Advise Honda 2.0L owners to change their oil more frequently due to fuel dilution.
8. Biased hate for Electric Vehicles, Walmart, Project Farm and California.
9. Recommend a oil analysis to set a baseline trend on a vehicle with 5,000 miles.
10. Have a "feeling" towards moving away from the recommended manufacture viscosity.
Spoke too soon!I'm not sure about the original list. I consider myself a dyed blue and true BITOG'er, but I don't meet any of the criteria first posted. What about these?
1) Have spent months consternating over what oil to use in a newly acquired car, even posting a thread here on BITOG to get advice on what viscosity and/or brand.
2) Even though you know the subject has been beaten to death here on BITOG, participated in one of the 743 threads on the subject of whether or not to use a magnetic oil drain plug. Bonus recognition for also vigorously argued on the subject of pre-filling oil filters or not. Minus points if you didn't already have an opinion, and came to get "sound advice" on one of these subjects.
3) Has taken oil change intervals to extremes, either 2X or 3X beyond the manufacturer's recommended OCI, or 2X-3X shorter, because, well, we all know better than the manufacturer.
4) Have at least once tried either an oil extractor pump or an oil plug drain valve. Or vigorously argued against both, because your cousin's, brother-in-law's, father, said that they don't get all the oil, and well, that is good enough for you.
5) Have made your own tool for a job, at least once.
6) After having seen a post on the new tool thread, just had to order a new tool, even though you don't really need it, but you just may, some day.
