what compound would you use for this situation?

the paint of my car is slightly oxidized but still somewhat glossy, however the clear coat appears to be diminishing. There are swirls on the car as well.

i need something that will not cut the thin layer of clear coat thats left on my vehicle. what do you suggest?

was thinking about this kit. Thanks to BITOG, i decided to just spend 120 on a true buffer that i can use forever instead of a cheapo generic one.

If you just want a quick clean-up and light swirl removal, Meguiar's D151 is a good one-step product used by many high volume reconditioning facilities.

I would use a glaze only. Nothing with any sort of "cut" if your cc is diminishing. I'd want to try to keep it as thick as possible while filling in minor swirls as best as I could... Thus the glaze.

Then of course wax it a few coats for good protection...

One of those Pinnacle polishes would probably work fine. I'd use something like Meguiars Speed Glaze or Swirl Free Polish. Both are light on abrasives but help restore the finish.

A compound will cut the oxidation and remove swirls, but would also erode some of the clearcoat. Any way you go here will be a compromise.

Have you tried Meguiars Ultra Compound from your local walmart first?
