What can Valvoline do to top Restore and Protect?

They will battle to survive like all of the others …
Foxtrot can verify - but think their parent company is only making Grp2 in the USA - now Shell and SK companies are in a bind too 🚽

They have lots of weights to fill in, -40, -16, -8
Valvoline Restore and Protect gear oil.
Valvoline Restore and Protect grease
Valvoline Restore and Protect antifreeze
Valvoline Restore and Protect motorcycle products
This is what I'm expecting. They already have the ATF and the fuel additive.

Their magic dispersant will soon find it into everything. And then they'll rebrand even those products that don't have it just for "restore and protect" to be their new flagship product line in all things-- even if there's no real restoration activity associated with the product (i.e. gear oils, grease, etc).

I don't think they'll rebrand their entire coolant line though since it's not Valvoline branded to begin with.

It's in the European website mentioning a June release. The specs are "Recommended For" and not approvals. That wouldn't stop me. It will have HTHS of 3.5cP or more for LL-04 and 229.5x. Valvoline would be fried by the driving public if it didn't. US releaes don't meet that wall.
We know that 10W-30 and xW-40 are available in Australia according to some members here.

These are questions I have… During the “restore” phase, what exactly happens and are any contaminates loosened and pumped across wear surfaces? Then does the “protect” phase keep the wear surfaces from scratches etc. from the loose contaminates that would otherwise have set harmless in the recessed areas for the life of the engine? If the additive package is so strong that it does loosen contamination from these areas, how does it react on crankshaft seals etc. Edit: dwcoopless will point out any misspellings, vocabulary mistakes, and anything that he determines is incorrect. Thanks!
All the test results we've seen from Valvoline Restore and Protect have been great, there's nothing to suggest that it's anything but at top performing product. The cleaning is not aggressive at all (which some think is a negative) which is why they suggest following the OEM recommended service intervals and a minimum of four, consecutive oil-changes. This is what makes Mobil 1 Advanced Clean look somewhat ridiculous, out of nowhere they can "clean an engine in ONE oil change!"?? Really.

I think I recall Mobil, Castrol, and Valvoline claiming clean your engine in one cycle. They were specifically referring to sludge though, not carbon in rings. So we're back to "what is it cleaning out of the engine" again. The wheels on the bus....

Not sure if they can top it
Guess they don't need to
They are expanding the Restore & Protect family with ATF and fuel system/injector cleaner. Also, Valvoline Restore and Protect is awaiting its introduction to the European market. I expect the success there to be even bigger because many people overseas still drive 90s cars and 15-20 years old cars. The South American and African markets still await development.
However, people in the States drive the most. So, if you say to an European - You have to do 4 OCI per 8,000 km for a total of 32,000 km to reduce or stop your oil burning, he may say - Well, I may have sold the car by then. :)

Got tempted yesterday and bought one. Planning to use it in the end of my 1st or 2nd Valvoline Restore and Protect oil change.

Where'd you find this at

They really don't need to top it, maybe expand on it.

I would love to see a high mileage version with additional seal conditioners.

Maybe expand into the extended performance market with it assuming they can come up with a safe formulation to run that long.

I think Mobil 1 Advanced Clean will flop, seems they may already be altering their claims and it also seems Advanced Clean is marketed for modern vehicles what Valvoline is marketed for old and new so really there is no competition for Valvoline.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the breakthrough here? What is the additive they've discovered that works so well? Honest question.
It's the subject of speculation. It's proprietary thus far.

In my opinion, it's a new kind of dispersant. Dispersants work by having a polar end and a nonpolar end The polar end is what is going to interact with contaminants.

I think Valvoline researchers found a way to tweak a dispersant and make the polar end hyper-polar, so polar that it can in fact defeat some of the very strong bonds of polymeric varnish type deposits as well as carbonaceous deposits.

And by accident no less! Which is how most discoveries are made.
And,
It doesn't dissolve carbon. It dissolves the polymers that bind the carbon to itself and the other metal.
I've also heard that it needs heat to work most effectively, but that's completely anecdotal.

Aside from the obvious (a -40 weight and Euro-approved formulations) I would say there's a decent market for extended OCI oils that they could tap in to. A little more robust additive package and improved base oils could get them to compete in the 1 year/20k game that XOM and Pennzoil are playing.
