What brake pads do you pick?

In the last year I put Raybestos ceramics on both my SUV and her lexus sedan. On the Lexus, coupled with a good flush and bleed, the grip is so solid it's hard to ease to gentle stops!

Whatever you get, I'd recommend ceramic for performance/low mess/long life. Don't get organic or metallic. On good deals at RA, no axle was more than $15 for great brakes.

ASP are 59.99 for my car at AAP

59.99 * 0.60 = 35.99 with 8% cashback it's $33.11 + tax, combine that with limited lifetime warranty (advance has ALWAYS replaced the worn out pads for me, so it's actually lifetime).

These pads are more then worth it for me.

Normally, what do you other shade tree mechanics out there go to? Rock Auto easily has 50+ part numbers ranging in price from $8 to $60. It is hard to tell where parts store pads fall in at on the spectrum.

They have some nice Centric pads for my Jeep, but they are going to be about $90 for front and rear.

Akebono Pro Ceramic is first choice, Wagner TQ is second. I may look on Amazon or RockAuto but I always get the Akebono if its available, sale or not.

How does this work out? I can save about $70 getting the Akebono pads from RA, but if the warranty makes it worth it, it might be better to just get them from AAP.

I always thought the warranty for pads was to make sure they are free from defects during the life of the part.

for online purchases, advance makes you place a completely new order and refunds your previous order. As long as you have the need, they will warranty the pads, never had an issue, just like AutoZone.

Interesting. I chatted with the folks on AAP's site this morning and they told me what I thought the warranty meant.

I prefer Raybestos Advanced Technology and have been using them for the last 5 years or so. I'm very happy with them. Other brake pads I have used are Duralast GOlD and cMax, Raybestos Professional Grade and Hawks. Was happy with them too. I just stay away from the cheap no-name stuff.

Meanwhile, only FERODO on both cars and even the Motorcycle. I tried many big brand Brake pads before, but i liked the Ferodos most. They performe really good, especialy at high speeds, are long lasting and the brake disc looks like a Mirror.

I chose Hawk HPS pads most recently, and am absolutely impressed with the braking power available, especially once they get a little warm.

Years ago I remember a dual footed panic stop with 220 lbs of scared driver standing on the brakes which were just barely adequate in stopping the vehicle in time.

Now with the Hawk Pads, 1/5 the pressure can lock them up, and my tires now are 0.75 inches taller and 4 Lbs heavier than then.

Nice manners in normal driving too. No reports on longevity yet, and dusting does not appear to be bad either, but my rims are black.

In the US, they go by the name Wagner.

Brembos are the only pads I've ever truly loved. I even managed to get some for my Cavalier.

Are you sure about this, and if so, which Wagner line is equivalent to Ferodo's DS 2500 performance pads??
