2006 Lucerne 3.8L placed in service Oct. 2006,has 27,000 miles. What exact batteries were put in these cars and how long can I expect it to last?

also if I do change the battery, will I need to reprogram the car and the FOB?

thanks

I'm a fan of the EverStart brand.....but just shop around and compare warranties. Can't really go wrong with the 3 year replacement warranty on the EverStart MAXX series batteries for $82...

As far as the longevity of the battery, it's hard to predict....here in FL, we are lucky to get 24 months out of them :P But that's where the Everstart warranty kicks in, to get us back on the road.

My mother's 97 plymouth breeze has the original battery! We got 10 years out of the battery on our 94 previa too.

I like the deka AGM batteries myself...

Finally found out what battery is installed at the factory for the 2006 Lucerne, it's a ACDelco Professional series 79-6YR.
72 month battery. The battery is actually located under the rear seat.

My AC Delco died last December in my 06 Silverado. It sounds like the same battery style/model, maybe different size. I replaced it with a Napa Legend 84 month, which is a Penn Deka maintenance free, and never looked back.

How is the replacement battery warranty work ? 3 years from the day you get the replacement or 3 years from the original purchase ?

Hello BIGMIKE, there may have been a problem with the battery draining issues on the silverado's. AllData.Com shows a battery TSB, not a recall, under the 2007 Silverado. The October 2006 issue date though sounds wrong. Too early for the NBS. They list both 2007 Silverado and 2007 Silverado Classic however and this TSB is not listed for Classics. . Unfortunately I don't have an account there and I am not paying to view the TSB. I looked for it elsewhere but only found it on AllData.

I too have an 06 lucerne, and just replaced the factory battery 2 months ago. You are very limited as to finding an aftermarket battery. There are a couple, like napa, but they were all more expensive than the acdeldo. I had a $25 coupon from the dealer, so I put in the acdelco...

On a side note, I had issues trying to charge the old battery while in the car. The charger didn't want to work in the remote location in the engine compartement. So I had to lift the backseat to hook up the charger, but then you have to have a window open to run the cord or else you will pinch it in the door frame when closed.

Consumer Reports did a report on batteries, and came up with COSTCO's batteries as THE best at THE best price, hands down. So, the last time my wife's Pathfinder needed one, I went ahead and got one: $56.00+tax=$59.92. 84-month warranty, 2-year free replacement. It's only been in use for a year, so too early to comment, yet; but that report by CR magazine and the price got me!

The manufacture date for my truck is July of 2005. The battery managed to last from 07/05 (maybe earlier, depending on the battery's manufacturing date) to 12/10, so roughly 5.5 years for a 6 year battery. I have a feeling a cell died in it. I don't think your AC Delco battery will last all that much longer, especially if it is showing symptoms of slow cranking, etc. Mine starting with slow cranking, so I put a trickle charger on it during the evenings. That got me about 1 or 2 more months out of it. I left on vacation only to come back to it completely dead.

Put a Delco battery back in it. Best warranty and best free replacement warranty as well.

I would have, but the supplier to AC Delco changed. So I went to Penn Deka (Napa Legend 84), which, according to everything I've read, is a fantastic manufacturer.

If it wasn't for the Advance Auto Parts coupon I had $40 off anything over $100 I would have gotten a Deka.

I think $60 all said & done for a brand new 84 month battery isn't bad.

back in the dark ages my dad showed me a battery that was neet. it is a group 31 it can have a threaded stud, or a regular post. however it is a little bigger than regular. 13.0 long 6.72 wide 9.44 tall. also they are NOT maintenance free, you DO need to check the water. they DO give extra cranking power, and the stud ver has less maintenance.

There is an Interstate Batteries MegaTron battery in my 1993 F-150. I don't know when it was put in there because no one removed the date indicators.

I got this truck used in July 2003 and the battery was already in there. It is at least 8 years old and cranks like new, though I did have to replace the original starter a couple months ago.
