2024 Tacoma. Replaced 3/4” rear spring spacers with full 1” to compensate for bed rack, bumper and mods. Restored factory rake. All things considered, the suspension on this truck is pretty easy to work on. Like that a lot. I got the rake right because the oem headlight aim is now where it should be. Nice.
Checked the oil. 1.25 full quart over full. Oh no. Smells like gas. Suctioned out 3 quarts, replaced with 2, including a 30 weight instead of 20, made sure it’s right on the full line. Guess I have to start monitoring this. 3,000 miles on this OC. I don’t recall it ever having done this before, but this has been my first full winter with it. I checked because it’s had a different sound/feel at the seat cushion these last 2 weeks. This truck for all intents and purposes is well-built, but if I knew all this would happen going in, im not sure I would buy it again, not for what I paid. It’s a darn good serviceable and commutable vehicle, and with all these mods it’s getting 22mpg, which is awesome, but I feel at this point between the low ATF from factory, mystery stall on the interstate, buggy dashboard and now this - I’m debugging a product a paid a premium amount for in trust of reliability. Still not a bad vehicle by any means, but the value isnt there for what I spent.
Will start checking/changing oil frequently. I’m not sure if any ever truly are, but my concept of “forever car,” is shattered with this one. Just, one day at a time, use amd enjoy.
