Oh so you want to encourage Sir-Rants-A-Lot:

I'm pretty sure it was a member of Team TTB from 1980. He later headed up Team TFI, figuring a bunch of laminated film stuck on a hot distributor to delam was a great idea. He also worked on the notoriously noisy C2 p/s pump in OBS trucks (note the van division knew better and always ran Sags). He was able to develop the early Triton heads with a couple plug threads so spark plugs could shoot through the hood. He then went on to develop all the 3V engines -- specifically the timing sets of course. Chains that rattle like the Ghost of Christmas Past are cool ya know....

Man, this one engineer sure manages to annoy me a lot. Maybe I should get a life.... :D
What Have I Done................................Meh, what the heck. I have a love/hate relationship with automotive engineers anymore, but I digress. I am sure the executives from the "Other" vehicle manufacturers appreciated his hard work, especially the Corporate Bean Counters. Oh, and you just had to mention (in my opinion anyways) the absolute pinnacle of Ford engineering.........the......TRITON. I WILL retaliate.....somehow.

Been working on the new 2006 F250 axles that are going under my 86 F250. U joints are completely shot, have a new set of SKF joints to go in. Didn’t have a 33mm wrench for the lower ball joints so I’m waiting on the Amazon truck to bring one tomorrow. Pulled the diff cover and it looks amazing inside. I’ll reseal it and refill with some fresh Schaeffer 75w90 when the axle is installed. I removed and plugged the vacuum fitting last for the auto hubs since my old chassis won’t need them. Also ordered the grease fitting adapters for the abs sensor holes since my 86 won’t need those either. Have a new set of ball joints coming from Detroit Axle and it’ll get a set of their tie rods once it’s installed. Measured the old frame and the 06 rear axle will be a direct bolt in springs and all with the only modification being drilling the holes out slightly larger in the 86 spring hangars.

Welded the two bed halves together to form the Kubota Voltron long bed. Still more reinforcing to do, no complaints here, it’s oddly relaxing.

Well this ridiculous project is now finished, it can now hold a full tractor bucket load without spilling, and still dump without hitting the ground with the tailgate down.

I replaced the VTEC solenoid gaskets on my 2003 Odyssey, had been leaking oil for a little while. One was extremely brittle and crumbled apart. Hopefully these Dorman gaskets hold and it’ll give me a chance to see if I’m burning any oil.
 
Took the day off from dump trucking to renew my medical certificate and get some errands done while I was in town.

My Transit has developed a very annoying vibration above 55mph so I took it by the local Big O branch I use for a free rotation and balance. Both steers were out 1oz for a total of 2oz. Rebalanced everything and swapped front to back without swapping sides because everything is wearing evenly right now. Drove smooth as silk on the hour ride home.

Dropped two pairs of my work boots off at RedWing to be cleaned and conditioned. They were done by the time I ate lunch.

Stopped by Harbor Freight and picked up an Icon ball joint press for the Super Duty axles I’m working on. It worked great. Got all 4 ball joints swapped in a matter of minutes and wire wheeled and painted the knuckles.

2006 Silverado 1500 VortecMax: serviced rear diff. I had ordered a LubeLocker but forgot that when General Motors was still General Motors they provided drain plugs in a lot their live axles. Once they became Government Motors circa '08 and started to look for every way to save a penny, drain plugs diminished :rolleyes:

I refilled with 85W140 in a mix of Supertech and MAG1, because that pisses everybody off. If I were Freedom Worx (I'm not) this is where I'd tell you to tell me I'm stupid in the comments 'cause that helps the algorithm :)

2000 Ram 1500: replaced bushings in lower left door hinge. I just tack welded the hinge pin back in place once reinstalled

Yesterday got the 97 Aspire loaded up, going to pull the 1.3 and few others parts and scrap it. Was a prior rental in FL, the accident record was impressive! Got the 86 F150 flipped around and a tire pulled. Going to get some rollers and take it up to the house. Not sure if worth saving the old farm truck but only has 83k on the 302. Had a coolant leak between the timing cover and block.

Haven't been on in the last few weeks. I've had a lot going on. My friend and I have decided we're going to start flipping some trucks this year and these last few weeks we've went out and bought a 2011 Silverado, a 2010 Silverado, and an 06 Sierra. The 11 has a bad afm 5.3, were pulling it and doing a rebuild with afm delete cam and lifters. The 10 is a 4.3 V6 truck with a bad 4L60 and some body damage. The 06 Sierra had a tree fall across the bed. While he's pulling the 5.3 out of the 11 Silverado I've been working on getting a second lift set up in the shop. All of this is because I left my job at the offroad shop, he's laid off, and it's a good time to put our heads together and make some money on our own terms. We've went in together on some new tools and equipment and he's still doing work outside of working on the trucks. I'm basically running the shop and doing scheduling for his jobs, and we're both turning wrenches however I'm doing less of it.

Moving to forward, there's a good possibility I'm going to put an addition on the shop and invest in some machining equipment, but right now I'm focusing on the repair and vehicle flipping side of things.

Do you need a dealer license technically? In CO if you sell more than X number of vehicles per year you're supposed to have one. Many shadetrees skirt it by never titling the vehicle in their name.

I've always considered this but it seems difficult to find anything with enough meat on the bone after even a low purchase price and then repairs. Clearly, it's an art and I'm not sure I have the skill to choose 'em correctly
 
Worked on today...got almost 3 years out of the last one (the "Plus" version which only warrantied within 2 years) so I upgraded. I think the only way to get a fresher one would be to go to the factory and pick one up there. The negative cable loop bothers me but it didn't want to loop under the positive cable so I'll have to live with it I guess.

Trying out the KCx Guf on some floormats to see how it comes out. Bought it the other day to exclusively use on floormats/vinyl flooring.

Pour it into a spray bottle to get it into deep grooved floormats. Label (and placard) bottle accordingly. Yes the HAZMAT info is mis-formatted don't call osha on me.

Yep it's an isopropyl alcohol-based product. Unlike traditional interior cleaners it does not leave a heavy sheen where it can pose a slip risk.

Scrub with Simple Green to remove dirt build-up for best results. Spray product outside of vehicle and wipe down with a towel to avoid inhaling IPA fumes.
Not bad for rejuvenating Husky floormats.

For deeper-grooved floormats like this Rugged Ridge floormat a blow dryer helps spreading the product where a towel or applicator sponge can't touch.
Like some reviews complaining about a heavy rubbing alcohol smell I don't smell any hint of alcohol and applied the product in an open ventilated area.

New spark plugs on my 21 Prius Prime. 117k on the originals. No pictures; boring job went fine. Old plugs looked great, no cam cover oil leaks or anything to report. I don't have a 14mm or 9/16" spark plug socket for these little pencil thin plugs so just loosened the old ones and plucked them out with a magnet. The new ones I fed down with a finger and they blindly found their way straight in. Car has a little trap door in the plastic cowl accessed by removing the rubber weatherstrip that meets the hood, and this removable panel allows plug access.

I really like the Rugged Ridge mats and would always choose over the flimsy, over rated Weathertech junk. But, yeah, it's like trying to clean an M/T tire ;)
 
Loaded up the skidsteer and went over to my grandparents to load up another roll off bin full of scrap. I think this is somewhere around 10 bins done with who know how many more left to go. Probably 30-40 left to go.

Demolished an old wooden building that used to house an ATM that was standing in the way of another semi trailer I need to empty. Managed to get most of the debris moved before the rain started. I’ll clean the rest up another day.

Started pulling the loader off his old Massey Ferguson 65 tractor in an attempt to get it running and usable enough to brush hog this summer. They are an hour away from me so hauling my own equipment over there all the time is getting old. The loader is an absolute hack job that someone tried to use as a bulldozer and bent it every direction but straight. It’s going in the next scrap bin and I can’t wait to see it leave.

I did come across several of these old empty Rotella jugs in a wrecked box truck bed o was cleaning out. Thought they were neat-they are very likely older than I am.
