What are you working on today?

14 ES300h with 117K.

Performed a portion of the 120k service: Oil Change, Tire Rotation, Brake Fluid Exchange and Cabin Air Filter.

Will replace the spark plugs and air filter at a later date when I have more time. During inspection also found a failing original 12V battery, which the owner approved replacing.
Installed the spark plugs, engine air filter and 12V Battery today. Wished all cars were this easy to work on - it took less than 25 mins including clean up!

Spent 3 hours on the new place. Wanting to move the current corner post in 4-5ft since the current location is 2-3ft within the culvert. Had to cut one tree out just trimmed the others further in. Those are a project for later. Still need to trim few others so we can get a better view of the road pulling out. Oldest had fun dragging limbs to the pile, that one don’t like manual labor 😆

Started on pulling posts and clips on another fence. That wasn’t smart with my back.. either need to buy the WD45 or bring dads Kubota up. Alot of brush in that one.. think I’ll pick up a Echo SRM-2620AA or 266 and blade next week.

Finally finished up the wipers on the '02 Silverado 2500. Clif notes:
-wipers only worked on high
-replaced pulse board on motor
-wipers now worked as they should but there was a single swipe with key-on
-blamed Dorman, replaced with GM OE
-single swipe unresolved
-replaced switch in cab and all is well

Switch aka multifunction switch replaced with Standard. Old unit on dash:

Also the Amazon reviews of the Dorman pulse board are as you'd expect, so no regrets swapping to GM OE for longevity :D

After recently replacing the roller shift pawl in my non-profit's '21 Polaris Ranger, it wouldn't shift into Reverse.

I went over today (Easter repairs I guess) and found that the range sensor had walked out and was physically blocking the external shift arm. The sensor is supposed to be retained by a sheetmetal wave washer and e-clip. I remember when I put it back together the e-clip seemed marginal but I figured it's got very little load on it -- but I probably failed to account for vibration.

I didn't have any wave washers and I don't much trust the e-clip concept here, so I decided to try a full circle snap ring. I had to use a larger ring behind it to act as a very thin "washer." I was working on-site and trying to use what I had.

Will it hold up? No idea! We'll find out.

Primarily finding out how well our X3 handles down pours.. wet day here on the west side of MO. When we got back from Easter dinner changed out our Ring for a Lorex doorbell.. cancelled the $50 year plan and the replacement was $75 once.

Went to go move the lawn tractor to the back patio temporarily, because I've got some tires arriving soon from Tirerack for the MG and needed to make some space in the garage. First surprise, the leaky front tire that always needs air won't take air because it's flat. Turn a little, then it inflates. Whew. Second surprise, battery cranked for a second, then nada. Hmm, might be new battery season, but let's see if it will take a charge. Got the engine started, ran for several seconds, then died. After some troubleshooting, turns out the fuel filter is clogged. Has been running fine for years, but it was probably the original fuel filter from 1989. Hey, it's an old John Deere rear engine rider, but after replacing the drive belts, air filter, and spark plug, it's been running like a champ. Until today. A quick run to Autzone, and figured the generic inline fuel filter hanging on the rack, although a little larger than the original, will probably work. Turn the fuel valve on, and I can see fuel flowing through the new filter. Wasn't sure if an automotive fuel filter might be too restrictive for a gravity fed lawn mower when a car has a fuel pump, but the engine started right up. Now waiting for the battery to finish recharging, but cleaned and oiled the air filter in the meantime.

My watch said no working out today - got around to replacing the brakes on an 05 Sienna. Machine shop molested the rotors on their lathe when I had the rotors machined and introduced run out beyond Toyota spec resulting in a shimmy during freeway speed stops. Which is a shame, there were Advics rotors. I decided to swap the pads with 5mm of meat left, I might as well while I’m in there. I never buy parts store brand pads(outside of a few sets of Perfect Stop pads). I’m impressed so far but these would be have been cheaper off RockAuto(as Bosch QuietCast) or the parts house(as Perfect Stop).

Out - Advics rotors, OEM Toyota “warranty” pads made by Advics
In - Toyota OE rotors, also made by Advics in Indiana and Duralast Elite pads. Pads were made by Bosch in Mexico.
