What are you working on today?

The Hemi is ready to drop in sans valve covers....

Most of us know these engines are notorious for manifold bolts breaking, I use ARP 8740 on all LS/LT engines....ARP doesn't make a bolt kit for Hemi Manifolds so I measured the originals & came up with 45mm UHL, 50mm UHL ARP 661-1007 is a perfect length. Should work on all '09 & up 5.7L & 6.4L Hemi truck engines.

Tightened the bolts to 21 foot pounds in several passes using red loctite

Looks really good !!👍👍 I get emails from Melling listing all the latest and greatest parts they offer.
Do you use a lot of their parts ?

"The classic" (as Eric O would say) blower resistor failure in an '05 Ram 1500

I stock a resistor as I service so many 2nd Gens, and I was pleased to learn the 3rd Gen uses the same resistor.

The motor is of course toast, too. It was a Denso and the truck somehow has 294k on a 5.7 Hemi -- I wonder if the Denso is the original blower motor?

Thanks.

I use Melling oil pumps a lot & some of their USA made timing kits/components. This engine has a Melling timing kit/USA made & the tensioner had a Mopar part number, Melling might be OE for this particular application?

I use their timing sets on 3V Modular Ford's a lot....(With Ford OE Phasers)

Interesting
As an outsider looking in. I’d think Melling parts are high quality

2022 Mini Cooper JCW All4:
-oil change. That is all. But I'm not a huge fan of this no dipstick thing. You're at the mercy of putting in "5.6 quarts" and hoping. Apparently the system can't check oil level immediately? Says you're supposed to drive for 30 minutes? And even then does it supply an actual graduated reading, or just a binary ok/not ok?

I'm a Luddite, I like dipsticks. I'm off to find a rock and smash something.....

I bought Sequoia in November. Did coolant immediately but was waiting for better weather for the differentials, transfer case, and transmission (doing that tomorrow. My wife is about to deliver any minute, so I'm stuck at home, and since the weather is in the 60s, I got bored. Car currently has 71,000mls.

First time on Quickjacks. Wondered how it would work. This is 7000TL, so 7,000lbs capacity. Sequoia is 6000. Works like charm on BMW, VW, I know @Astro14 lifts Tundra with it, but Sequoia adds like 200-300lbs over Tundra. Turns out, no issues. Super stable!

Like all differentials on my vehicles, this one got Motul Gear 300 75W90. Nothing like strong smell of esters in garage :). In total, the differentials and transfer case took approximately 5.5qt:

Both differentials had a black color and smell of oxidation. No smell of esters like in BMW or VW.

The basket case '05 Ram 1500 reappeared. He wanted the right front fender and front bumper replaced after running into a bollard in the gas patch.

I ordered a new fender on ebay and sourced a better (but far from perfect) bumper locally.

This is some serious backwoods bumpkin Cletus bodywork which I post solely for your amusement. All insults welcome.

Original 5.7 Hemi sounds like a diesel mixed with a choo-choo train combined with a ghostly rattle of chains....but it runs. Somehow:

Beautiful work on a wonderful car. I love my Quick Jacks.

I’d encourage you to place a set of jack stands inside the quick jacks, one on each end. My 3 ton stands extend just below the max extension of the quick jack.
