A friend's Killed In Action seems hell bent on killing me

It burns oil like it's going out of style, he's scraping money together for me to do a few idle flushes + piston soaks to improve it
Or to get it ready for dealer showtime when the KSDS/P1326 finally sets

He's driving it yesterday, shaking and low on power, no flashing CEL
He did the smart thing and signed up for AAA when I told him to, so last night after work we got it towed to my house

My neighbors love me

I ordered an HL Mando coil off Amazon for overnight delivery in case I needed it
While an OE part for 1/3 the price, I wound up not needing it
Turns out, it's finally reached the sad state of fouling out a plug

Hit it with a wire brush and some solvent, got it back in with the original coil, and it ran on all 4 cylinders again
This NGK was new in January

Patched the washer fluid hose (again ) and installed a missing lug nut (where did it go )
Topped it off with the cheapest Castrol 10w30 I have left, and sent it down the road
When it's owner gets some more money together, it'll get the front brakes, idle flushes, piston soaks, and purge valve it badly needs

It's a two for one H/K weekend
Neighbor's kid's girlfriend just got this '13 Elantra Limited, apparently the brake lights have been stuck on for two days
I had the kid swing by the Hyundai dealer and pick up a stop switch and the stopper (stopper was supposed to be replaced under a recall)

Once it finally respawned in front of my house, I could finally get my eyes on it

The old stopper crumbled, but wait a minute, it was supposedly replaced for a new/improved clear rubber part in 2018

I guess our renegade FRT wanted the 0.3 hrs but couldn't be bothered to install the improved part
I know they billed it out, it says so on Hyundai's website

Oh well, can't expect people to do what they get paid to
$0.95 later, a new stopper is on order
As a temporary measure, I jammed a plastic clip that would fit

As for my beloved DD Camry, it's fog lights mysteriously stopped working several months ago
I tested the bulbs/relay/grounds
I even did the immoral sin of an unfused jumper wire to bypass/condemn the switch

I'm not paying $200+ for a new one, because my combo of Japanese produced, Auto headlights, DRLs, and fog lights is apparently rare and special
$22 later, a nice OE salvage part was delivered, and it works quite nicely

I got a pull behind the mower lawn sweeper and put it together. Fairly easily and all the parts were there. Back in the day we had them at home but all push ones. I remember setting the sweeper whiskers on fire when dumping the leaves once. Dad was not happy.

But I intend to dump all these on the pond bank.

If they are good stock and good location they can last for decades. I still have some come up from 40 years ago.

Today was a fun tractor day with no defined tasks. I chose to work on the inner ranch road and spread some crushed granite. My pallet forks tipped over on the right side. oops.

Dude rear ended the 01 Tundra so time to do collision repair. Guy didn't want to involve police and insurance, so he paid cash to cover the costs for an OEM bumper shell and related parts.
Had to pull the rear bumper to check damage to the reinforcement bar and mounts.

Exposing dat junk yo.

Damaged bumper shell.

Checking for mount and reinforcement bar damage.

No damage to the mounts so it's good to go back onto the truck.

However the damage did bend the bolts and ended up chewing the threads on the frame welded nuts.

A run to Napa to get some 3" die grinder wheels. Cut the spot welds off, thread an old bolt on and give it some whacks with the sledgehammer.

Paint exposed metal with black enamel.

Got the trim-to-fit WeatherTech floor mats in the LS430. Only had to trim the fronts. The tan color is going to take some getting used to.

Had to clean/shampoo the carpet in the rear passenger side foot well to remove couple of grease marks.

I think the next project will be to strip out the non-functioning Clifford alarm and correct whatever shoddy install methods were used. I did spot some bare wires behind the driver side kick panel.

My beater 2007 F150 with 240k miles:
-changed oil 0W40 but am ashamed to admit I failed to change filter. If this were a customer's vehicle I'd never let this slide, but on my parts runner it'll survive
-drain and fill transmission thanks to Dorman pan
-changed 8.8 rear diff fluid. Was going use 75W90 but it had still had the tag calling for synthetic 75W140 "only." I figured great, if Ford wants it to have heavier gear oil I'm sitting on gallons of 85W140 I'm trying to use up. I know it's not 75Wsynth but I'm fine with it on my beater. Really I'm just looking for any excuse to use all my 85W140!

I also used a LubeLocker knock-off from Amazon. These seem very well reviewed, but I've never used the copycats before. I paid $15 in Nov '23:

Got the pump completely installed on the caddy....and it's leaking from the top right outlet on the water pump and the radiator had a pinhole in the core pissing coolant. Oh the joys of turning wrenches I pulled the bolts from the offending outlet (they also hold the oil filter canister on) and applied some thread sealant, waiting to hear what we're going to do about the radiator. I've been told to go ahead and change the oil, which I'll be doing after lunch.

2013 Highlander front brakes. Someone had previously mangled the WSS wire bracket and it was rubbing the wheel or tire pretty well. It didn't get through the insulation of the wire itself, so I bent the bracket to match the other side and left well-enough alone
