What are you working on today?

Snapped these two adapters lol. Stupid aftermarket wheels and on a Toyota Sienna to beat it all lol. The wheels we couldn’t get off because nobody had a powerful enough gun to break them loose. We told the customer they needed to go back to Valvoline where the rotate was done and get them to deal with it. The lug nuts were still a 21mm despite being aftermarket wheels. Could only fit a 3/8 chrome in the spot so had to use these adapters. The lug nuts were standard acorn lug nuts to pair with the wheels. They should have been downsized to a 19mm. Whoever done it should have known that.

Other than that brakes on one of the sales mans cars. I hate working on Audi lol. I was cussing that job plus had to wait 3 hours for parts to be brought from my towns auto parts stores as none of them in my work town had them and he didn’t want genuine Audi stuff which neither of the Audi dealers had anyway. Luckily I had triple squares. Not many people in my shop do. I haven’t worked on anything like that in a long time. Needless to say I don’t want to do it again just simply because it’s an Audi lol.
On some Audi’s, the rear rotors will come off without those bracket bolts….which are TTY btw.

My least favorite Camry is back again.

'88 Cherokee but I guess it might as well be a GM. New wiper switch, turn signal switch, turn signal stalk.

Wiper switch blown out. Old one right:

I think as the wiper switch failed they started forcing the signal stalk around more until it broke. Despite some reviews saying it's a perfect fit, this Dorman does not quite fit the XJ wiper switch correctly (Dorman does not claim it should fit). I was able to make it work.

New wiper switch and turn signal switch roughed in on the bench

Changed out the original Varta AGM from the Bluetec. Stamped 11/13, so it made it nearly 10 yrs.

New NAPA "Legend Premium" AGM went in; same exact size and CCA/CA rating, $205 after the $10 core refund with a 3yr warranty.

Stalled on the caravan. Customer being wishy washy. Fortunately I hadn't started a teardown yet. Instead I replaced rear brake pads and rotors on a 2011 Ram 1500. Then I replaced front brake pads and rotors on a 2007 Honda Accord. These were supposed to be my Monday jobs

Technically a Saginaw column built to AMC specs ;)

Used to rebuild a TON of those back in the day! I think the 4th Gen F-Body was the last car to use a Saginaw. What I don't miss is trying to match paint on some of the higher end GM's like Cadillac's, Oldsmobile, & Buick.....But if IIRC some Jeeps (Wagoneer?) had color matched columns.

I remember you saying that when I posted some lock plate tools.

The wiper switch (Standard brand) was sold with all the wires glued together as a flat strap. There's so little room in the shroud there was no way that was going to make it (I tried). I noticed the OEM setup had the wires "unglued" there so I slit the joints in the insulation and then the harness was far more manageable in those couple inches.

Rebuilt the A/C system on a 1989 Buick LeSabre.....Compressor, Hose Assembly, Dryer, Orifice Tube, Every O-ring. Flushed the Evaporator & Condenser. Fixed some vacuum lines, Fresh mineral oil & charged with R12. Nice car with only 78,000 miles & now you can hang meat inside.

2012 Chevy Suburban.....Replaced the Steering Angle Sensor & turned off the AFM via HP-Tuners.

Trying to finish up my dads Ford 9" swap, We have some factory Lincoln Versailles disc brakes, But the calipers are froze solid & remans are not easily obtainable nor are any other parts. Took a bit of convincing....But finally talked him into a Willwood brake kit, Their stuff has always been top notch!!
Required some interesting brake line bending as I don't like running flex hoses to fixed calipers.

Got it mocked in the car & the brakes bled, Waiting on some upper control arms as the original bushings are shot.

Installed a new Moog sway bar link on the Ranger, and found out my old neighbor who works at a Ford dealer can get me a OE intake hose but too late now. *********.

The Ranger is going home tomorrow, gonna give it a bath and $20 worth of Chevron for all the driving I did.

Was supposed to change oil in 3-4 cars today but it’s raining so hopefully the rain will stop. Weatherman was wrong it’s not sunny and clear lol. If I can’t do them today I’ll get them tomorrow. None of them are at the exact mileage yet just don’t want them to go over as that’s not good.
