What are you working on today?

Yesterday
2009 GMC Yukon
Turned front and rear brake rotors, replaced front and rear brake pads, replaced rear calipers and hoses, replaced serpentine belt

Today
Cut up a couple of trees, getting them ready for splitting

Finally got to install tune for 3 stage intake I plan to install.
That allowed me to test DISA valves I got together with 3 stage intake on eBay for some $135. Unsurprisingly they were dead! So have to get new valves which are some $600 OE, or risk aftermarket for $250. But, not bad for 35-40hp and 25lb-ft.
Tune alone is some 12-15hp, negligible gain in torque, but my butt dyno says numbers are there. Conveniently this tune as many other software stuff for BMW is FREE!

Replaced the spider gears and cleaned the housing. Broke 2 teeth off each spider when my tire grabbed dry pavement after icy driveway. Bummer. They were pretty worn at 221K anyway. Royal Purple oil made them last anyway.

Waiting on third pipe and exhaust install at friends shop. Nice when all I have to pay is labor for muffler and 3rd pipe. 3rd pipe going to muffler rusted in under 3 years😱😱

Forgot to post last weekend but done front pads and rotors on my dads 2004 Toyota Camry XLE. Replaced the original rotors about 2 years ago he just wanted to do a pad slap but the pad on the passenger side inner was metal to metal and had worn a nasty groove into the rotor so we replaced the rotors again as well. Backs are still original rotors I will probably pull them off and check this weekend maybe to see how the pads look. Pads have been replaced several times just no rotors. Also replaced the passenger side caliper bracket and bolt as I didn’t realize I was driving it in a little crooked and boogered the threads up but I didn’t have my rethreading kit at home so I just replaced it as we couldn’t keep putting miles on mine and using my gas. Also plugged his tire too. It has three holes in it but I just done the worst one as the other two are very small.
Tires still have 5/32 so not replacing till they wear out. Today or tomorrow if the rain holds off I need to change the oil in my truck, Escape and determine if a nail in the Escape tire is leaking. One of these weekends I want a day off lol 😂. Like last week doing the brakes was unexpected especially on my birthday haha.

Today I had the privilege of changing the oil, changing the cabin air filter, rotating tires, and washing my SIL’s Subie.
I also had the privilege of changing the oil, changing the engine air filter, and washing my MIL’s Buick.
I even washed my truck in the middle of all of it.
All of this while my Wife, MIL, and SIL are having fun at the casino.

While changing the oil in my MIL’s Buick, I noticed some moisture on the oil pan.
I followed the moisture straight up to the bottom of the A/C compressor and up onto one of the lines coming out of the condenser. It’s wet all the way up.

When I saw the refrigerant that had leaked out, the words of Lando Calrissian came to mind.

drain and fill of 2019 Chevy Spark CVT. I’ve got an 8000+ page pdf service manual for it so I tried to do all the torque specs and fluid level checks by the book. Dumped in a bottle of lubegard cvt refresh a couple of days ago which made the transmission a lot quieter by itself. Changed out the strainer, filter and pan gasket with oe parts. Used lubegard complete cvt fluid plus a quart of valvoline CVT fluid as I inevitably hadn’t bought enough. The original fluid was certainly dark at 45,000. No leaks so far…

Mounted front receiver for a bike rack on my truck

Friends 2011 Sonata stopped in for some service
2011 GLS, 2.4 auto, 103k
While the engine was replaced in 2017, no one knew if the plugs were
Sway bar links needed replaced, due to the previous guy dropping the ball

Out came some Iridium Denso's, in went some laser iridium NGKs
Reasonable to work on IMO
Also an engine air filter and cabin filter were installed

Being a Hyundai, naturally it's 2357 tail lamps were burned out, this is normal 😒
The turn signal bulbs decided they didn't want to be amber anymore, so they got changed
Turns out the fronts need to be accessed through a flap in the wheel well, unergonomic to say the least

Let's normalize installing the correct parts 🤬
On the right is the OE Hyundai link
On the left is what someone thought was an appropriate replacement
Wrong length, and clocked wrong
No wonder it didn't feel right 😐
Delphi links went in, correctly this time
Polished the RF headlight, replaced the loose rearview mirror
Took it for a wash, and returned to owner

2015 Pilot, oil change and spark plug replacement. Rear spark plugs require sprawling over the top of the engine and mostly replacing by feel since you can't really see much back there. The MM has been at 20% for a few days, so any moment now the wrench will come on, and it's time for #4 service. Figured if I knock the spark plugs out with the oil change today, there's more time to tackle the timing belt and water pump next weekend.

I mowed the yard this morning and then my Wife came back from the casino with my MIL and SIL. So at that point, I got to give the Chrysler a washing. I have the water soaked bodies of a million Arkansas and Oklahoma bugs laying beside my driveway.
On a good note, my Wife won enough to pay for the trip, buy their dinners, and put the money she took back in the bank.
Right now, I’m relaxing and working on this beer.
Hopefully everyone is having a great end to their weekend. Cheers! 🍻

No need for an oil change after wp and timing belt? I'm not familiar with that engine, so perhaps not?

Mowed the lawn with the push mower. Season 19 for the Home Depot Chonda.
Cleaned the chain on the Beemer and cleaned up the rear area after driving through a Large puddle and no way around it.
Went for a cycle ride of about 40 miles. Need to cook linner.

Oil filter cooler housing on a Chrysler Town & Country 3.6 Pentastar.

It was done once before but not mentioned here. My sister-in-law reported that the oil “sprayed out” after our last fix and it was parked. Just after that happened, I could not recreate the “spraying”. Today, my brother brought it over to have another look.

I took it apart down to the assembly again, and pulled it. A sliced o-ring for the oil filter nozzle to the engine (very small, but it was enough) was the culprit. Located a replacement o-ring and put it all back together. Except.

A fuel injector did quite seat into the rail and leaked. So off the intake came, reseated all injectors, and it was buttoned up again.

Runs great now. Good oil pressure, still has a rocker tap, but that’s a job for a different day.

That slice still doesn’t seem enough to spray, but right now, it’s running fine. I’ll leave the whole situation at that. 😎

Rotated the snow tires to the rear on 2012 Kia Sedona, I didn't want to spring for the whole set and I bought 2 snow tires but since have acquired a second set of rims, 6 bolt..., so I can now have both sets eventually. Torque steer is greatly diminished without the snow tires on front.

Used the Hart 1/2 impact and it did the job with power to spare, so next got 2 more complete sets of tires to change to see how the 2ah Hart battery holds up...to be continued. A frugal...but how useful 'tool' review too, but here's a photo of the impact for reference and previously used to remove/replace 6 lugs and axle nut, the impact has performed adequately;
