What are you working on today?

More yard maintenance, or rebuilding to be exact. I’m trying to get my back yard back into shape after the construction of the Mother-in-law living space on the back of my house. Construction has a way of destroying your yard.
Next up will be getting my Bermuda growing again and continuing the battle with fire ants,….nasty buggers they are.
I hope that everyone is having a great weekend! Back at it tomorrow. Cheers! 🍻

Here's an '80's looking video that explains the whole system. I'm no expert on the whole thing myself, so trying to explain it would probably have you more confused. If you've never seen the part that failed before, just Google or YouTube, "Hyundai steering clunk", there are tons of videos on it.
Like I said, if they carved a piece of cheese into shape, it would have probably held up better than the old soft thing that they had in there.:LOL:

They have made the newer part more robust though, so good on them for doing that. Cheers. 🍻

Good video. That really is the heart of the electrical power steering. I’d not seen one on the column like that. 78Amps max to that 12V motor. Video does suggest improvements in newer generations like you said. Cool!

If anyone has insomnia this vid will cure it.

My takeaway was that it has a linear array, so pretty sure we need LaForge to help us out. I didn't stay awake long enough to make it to info on the dilithium chamber

I hear the recall/customer enhancement labor op is 0.8 or 1.7 hrs?
This TikTok made it look relatively easy

Apparently the new part # is improved for better durability

I liked it. Looks like the adapters for OMT (oscillating multi-tool aka "Fein") blades!! Maybe I'm on to something ;)

2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Turned front brake rotors, replaced front pads, and changed the oil

2009 Chrysler Town and Country

Turned front and rear brake rotors, replaced front and rear pads

TR6 starter replacement, a somewhat miserable job due to the lack of space (one of the downsides of playing w/ small cars), the top nut being all but inaccessible and the starter tucked in the tunnel between the footwell, both manifolds, frame rail and rear carb. Pulled the carb and associated emissions plumbing, made a 90dg 9/16 wrench from a cheap HF one (love the heat wrench) and cursed a lot, but its done.

The curved area to the left in the photo is the steering column well for RHD cars; the bodies are ambidextrous to some extent.

Motor is coming together. Still waiting on the camshaft. Can’t do a thing more without it.

A couple more. Piston protrusion was between .015-.020”. Keep in mind the block was decked .010” and I had .015” shaved off the pistons before coating.

I put a starter in my daughter's Sienna. In the process, I broke a connection that's on the filler neck for a small hose that comes off the top radiator hose. 😡 I did some plastic repair and will check tomorrow and see if it's going to work. There's a good possibility I'll be putting a new radiator in it.

2014 Ram 5500 6.7L Cummins/AS69RC. EGR Cooler coolant tube O-rings leaking......Appears to have the wrong O-rings installed, New O-rings from Mopar are near $20 a piece!!!

2013 Ford Fusion 2.5L. Binding Strut bearing plates.....Could hear the coil springs getting wrapped up & relaxing (Boing, Boing sound) while turning.

2008 Chevy Corvette 6.2L/6L80E....A/C Compressor, Condenser, Expansion Valve. Got started on it anyway. I don't follow service information that has you drop the Subframe for the Compressor......I pull the right Catalyst & Exhaust Manifold.

I gave Miss Moneypenny a bath. I then toweled her down and hand-buffed her. So there's no misunderstanding, Miss Moneypenny is my Roadster.

Fuel pump, fuel filter and this upcoming weekend brakes on a 2007 Ford Five hundred. I will discuss that car in a separate thread.
I'm surprised any of those are still going with the CVT

IIRC the rear calipers are wind back?
