Re: Toy rear wheel bearings, years ago I had to yank the bearings on an '02 Taco at ~10p on a Saturday night. I built this crude fixture. Plate bolts to bearing retainer plate and the channel catches the bed of my press.

To reinstall I drive the bearing on with a pipe. Keep an old drum (placed "backwards") to elevate the wheel studs off the concrete floor so you're not tapping the studs out of the axleshaft flange.

Found time to do the oil and rear fuel filter on my 3500. 123km on the truck and 25 on the oil. I was wanting to run it longer but being so busy and some hauling planned, now or never. Also greased the cardan, that for once gave no drama.

2020 Infiniti QX 60 AWD. 60k on vehicle.

Front pads at 4/32 rears at 3/32

Replaced both front and rear brakes. Friends newly purchased vehicle.

Did oil change also with CQ 0w20 Syn HM and a Auto Extra 51358 from 2018 Made in USA
 
Well funny you should ask there 53' Stude, its been running great up until we parked it again. We are quite busy moving and it is at our old place, waiting. I have its maintenance to get done but she seems to be relegated to the back of the line. But, she runs great and knock on wood, it is keeping the fuel in the lines and not on the road....
 
Replacing a water pump on my Jaguar X-type... it’s a little whiny and gravelly, and it’s cheap and easy to replace. I got an AC Delco pump to go in it along with the proper pink coolant. Should be easy (probably jinxed it!)... 😁
In my time at AAP we had many water pumps analyzed that were returned defective. 99% of them were caused by silicate, sand that ir, eating the seal. then the bearing and boom, bad pump. Engine blocks are sand cast, so silicate is present, the solution is a mega flush with distilled water and if you can find it, the stuff Cadillac used to seal the Northstar engines. Great insurance to do the job once and forget it.

Thank you for the heads up on that. I just rarely ever do press in/on bearings, so I've never looked into proper tools to do the work myself. I've always just pulled the axle/spindle and let the machine shop do the pressing.
 
Finished up the 4runner yesterday. I spent the remainder of yesterday mowing the property, then I pulled a couple of downed trees up to the back of the shop so I can start cutting them up for firewood. Today, I rested. Looking like I'll be doing that the whole weekend.
 
Small fuel leak on passenger side rear-most injector. Bought the o-rings from Napa for $20 & swapped em all out. No more leaky
 
Transmission fluid/filter change and Transfer Case fluid change on 2010 BMW X3.
Trans fluid was brownish, but not burned; similar to cola. Very light deposits in pan/on magnet. Transfer case fluid was black.
Used the BMW kit from the dealer. It comes with new bolts, plugs, and magnet.
In is Valvoline Dexron VI full synth and the transfer case got Ravenol DTF-1.
Smoothed the shifts. Yes really. Arthrito-neck gauge says definitely can't feel light throttle shifts or the brake downshifting when slowing down.
Next weekend diffs and new power steering reservoir with flush. Smart BMW permanently attached the PS filter to the inside of the reservoir. Reservoir is cheap though.

Not today, but yesterday. One of the things I did was replace one of those wonderful Hyundai steering couplers.
I swear that a piece of cheese cut into shape would probably hold up better.

I hear the recall/customer enhancement labor op is 0.8 or 1.7 hrs?
This TikTok made it look relatively easy

Apparently the new part # is improved for better durability
 
We're supposed to be in the high 70s F today so I will be bringing the Firebird FORMULA out of storage.

I will uncover her and double check the tires PSI and all fluids...even though I already know!
She's been covered since November 2021.
I have already washed/waxed prior to storage so she will still look good when she is uncovered.
I will start her engine and let her idle for a bit before taking her on a 50 mile easy drive to get all of her lubed.
Been doing it this way for 42 years and she never complains.
I will also cut the lawn and mess with the patio & furniture over the next 2 days(Sun-Man). Both days near 80 F.

Yes, it is very easy to do. It was made even easier by the fact that I also had this car completely gutted to give it a deep cleaning beforehand. After I put the carpet in and trim pieces back on, which makes it more comfortable to lay in while working, I did this little job. Having the seats and console out of the way gave me so much room. I always take the drivers seat out even if the car isn’t to be gutted for cleaning.
I do believe the newer Hyundai’s do have a more substantial piece for the coupler, which is good, they needed to do something with it. 🍻
 
Did oil change on friends Kia Forte this morning. Then he, my mother and I had nice breakfast. Her and stepdad were at stepbrothers place 12 minutes from me for the stepbrothers middle child’s birthday party yesterday. Then my friend with KIA; we collected some cans and scrap. His elderly friend gave him a real old ac condenser and other aluminum junk.

Now I’m relaxing with another BUSCH N/A and shot of crown royal

So, explain this to me- electric steering coupler. Looks a lot like an electric motor with worm drive surrounding the steering column. Is that EPS or some other function?

Here's an '80's looking video that explains the whole system. I'm no expert on the whole thing myself, so trying to explain it would probably have you more confused. If you've never seen the part that failed before, just Google or YouTube, "Hyundai steering clunk", there are tons of videos on it.
Like I said, if they carved a piece of cheese into shape, it would have probably held up better than the old soft thing that they had in there. :unsure::LOL:

They have made the newer part more robust though, so good on them for doing that. Cheers. 🍻
