What are you working on today?

Audiman, I don't have a complete diagram but I did have one for the iat I believe.
Ah that sucks at it sounds like you have a wiring problem or a component on the same circuit causing issues. Sensors can share live and earth circuits and even signal if it’s say a lin system.

Me, today I’ve just looked at faults that are sporadic, noises from dash boards, a seat that was jammed by the customers emergency glass hammer or software issues with no updates yet.

03 Envoy only needed pads and rotors on the rear. I replaced them and serviced it while it was on the lift.

Today I done an electrical diagnostic on a 2013 Dodge Avenger they took in on trade. The battery is brand new and kept dying found out the brake lights were still on done a bunch of tests and replaced the brake switch. Problem solved. Also done wheel studs and then helped replace an engine in a Subaru that a lube tech didn’t put any oil in… I understand the guys are still learning but that’s the third time it’s happened since I’ve been there by the same guy. And he left my oil filter claw under the hood of another Subaru 😡. Can’t get a replacement anywhere local because it was a Craftsman USA. And the service advisor wouldn’t call the customer back. Oh well at least I didn’t pay anything for it but I really liked the style and it was the only one I had. He is going to replace it but it just won’t be the same.

Replaced the water pump on my daily driver today - 2006 Acura TSX 6MT. I had noticed a noise from the accessory belt area for the past couple weeks. None of the other components seemed to be the culprit, so I took an educated guess. In went an Aisin WPH-054 and the noise went away. Only the best for the old girl. (y)

The car ticked over 287k miles this morning on my way to work. I replaced a coil a few thousand miles ago. A steering rack 150k miles ago was the only major issue I've had with the car. Still on the original clutch, too.

The old pump wasn't leaking and the bearing wasn't sloppy. It was making noise when I turned it by hand once I removed it. I couldn't hear it when it was still on the engine and I spun it. Could hear it when idling, though!

Need to take care of those headlights before winter...

Replaced the ignition coil and spark plugs on a 14 Cruze with the 1.4 ecotec engine. Bad miss on #1, turned out coil was broken. Plugs were presumably original with the car having 102k on it. Also changed the oil.

Fired up a 24 year old high rear wheel Techumseh mower that has not run since last year. Takes a lot of priming. Going to replace the carburetor later this year. Great mower. I think I paid $99.00 for it new at BJ's in 97.

Wrenched and returned that Rebel 300 I have a thread going about

Worked to resolve little to no A/C in a '08 Caliber

Cabin filter was 🤢

Compressor would run constantly, but no cooling

High side is impossible to get at on a hot engine, and I didn't have all day

So I had to live dangerously and charge off the low side only (the high side of my gauge set felt very insulted)
I setup and purged and inverted a 12oz can of plain 134a, and added in very little spurts
Letting it idle for 5 minutes, holding at 3 grand for a minute, rinse and repeat
Once a combination of a steady low pressure reading for the ambient was achieved, and the lowest vent temperature, I stopped
I suspect I used 6 to 10oz out of a 12oz can
For a system that calls for 18oz dry

Took it for a test drive at highway speed, 40° out the vents (outside air)
Now Ambient wasn't hot today, 78° or so low humidity, so maybe I'm not getting true measurements

It'll be hot and humid by next Saturday, I'll get a full report by then

Went from ambient out the vents to as low as 38° give or take, that's respectable for a driveway hack job :D

“Warranty brake job” for the next door neighbor’s Highlander. I used Raybestos EHT rotors with Akebono ProACT pads.

I did the brakes 3k ago but the pads I installed emitted a loud screech every morning. The pads and rotors got warrantied, but since I did not want to use the same pads again, I paid for the Akebono pads. Also did another brake fluid flush and installed new slide pin boots.

Earlier today:

Oil change for the Prius and Accord. Prius also received a rotate and balance from America’s tire due to vibration at highway speeds.

Check out Stahlwille oil filter claw. Trav mentioned it once.

I’m waiting on parts for this. It has the dual tanks with the front tank holding 23.5 gallons and the rear holding 40 gallons. The rear fuel sending unit was broken where the arm and float are supposed to attach/clip into place. I’m replacing the sending unit in both tanks while the bed is off. 2016 DRW Chevrolet Duramax 3500HD with 71k miles and ~5,300 engine hours on it.
The transfer pump didn’t fix it like I was hoping. So, I pulled the flatbed off and pulled the fuel sump/sending unit out of each tank. The rear tank float/arm was floating in the tank. Two of the tabs that hold the float arm onto the sending unit were broken off. This truck was T-boned in December and not fixed. I think the side impact sloshed the fuel around pretty hard and broke the arm off. We’ve been having issues with the dual fuel tanks since it was hit, it threw a P2636 while the officer was writing up the accident report. The other driver was 100% at fault in this accident and his insurance paid for the fuel system damage and to replace the flatbed plus all labor. The damage was all to the flatbed. It folded up the front toolbox that was hanging under the flatbed and tweaked the aluminum flatbed just a little. The flatbed hangs over the passenger side just a hair more than it does on the drivers side. I removed the drivers side tool box and it looks fine without it. The accident bent the front mounting brackets for the bed just a little. I’m probably gonna have a friend cut me some new brackets on his plasma table while I have the flatbed off the truck. The ball and hitch mounts are physically bolted up the frame of the truck so there is no concern there as far as damage from the accident goes. I also ordered a new filler neck and cap for the rear tank. The cap was broken off and the filler neck got bent slightly when the truck was backed into something in an unrelated incident. A new cap will not screw into the bent filler neck. GM makes you buy the whole filler neck assembly with the hoses and everything. I also ordered a few other various parts that I need that would ship from the same warehouse since it wouldn’t add anything to the shipping cost. RA has pretty good prices if you can get lucky and get it all to ship from the same place. I used a 5% off coupon. My parents were complaining of a mouse-like squeak from the rear brakes on their Sienna. Took the rear drums off, reapplied lube on the shoe-backing plate junctions. The lube I used was CRC Silaramic, it flashed off. I used Permatex’s moly-silicone lube this time. No noise so far.

Cleared a P0761 code on a Lexus LS430 again. Trying to limp this car until the new truck market comes better. No further work will be performed on the car since we're planning to get rid of it fearing it probably needs transmission work which would easily exceed the value of the car.
