What are you working on today?

Yeah I know. I just always feel better when they have Loctite on them. I know when we broke them loose that first that that they were tighter than heck.
If they don’t put Loctite on from factory; that tells me they DO NOT need Loctite. I’ve done plenty of brake jobs and the factory fasteners don’t have Loctite on them so…. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Now that all major show stopping problems or repairs are out of the way on Project Milan, I'm turning it over to my sister so I can get back in my Camry

...I miss Android Auto so much 😬

Later in the summer when it starts to cool down, I'll tear into some more work on it, the parts are starting to pile up

Yeah so new kid told me the wrong oil amount so it wasn’t but barely any on the stick. He had put the wrong engine in the system we use. It was half a quart low but enough to trigger the light. The people checked the oil level with the engine running so it wasn’t showing any on the stick after the first dip lol 😂. They are terminating him tomorrow when he shows up especially since they had to cover that tow and since he backed over a computer stand in the shop and done a bunch of other stuff. And he doesn’t have any tools so he follows me around asking for them. I knew I put oil in it.
Sounds like another case of too many chefs in the kitchen.

Just did a drain and fill on my transmission (2016 Toyota Avalon).

Measured what came out, put the same back in - I know the level was correct because I set it with a scan tool last time. Used Toyota WS. I’m at 74,000 miles...did the first drain and fill at 50,000 miles, fluid was almost black. So, I decided to drop the pan, do the filter and gasket. This time around the fluid didn’t look too bad, think I’m finally “caught up”.

I'll be finishing up plugs, 2 coils and coil boots on a 2000 Toyota Avalon after lunch. Also have a 93 Chevy 1500 with a vacuum leak. I suspect the throttle body gasket. Might check it out this afternoon, but more likely itll be tomorrow.

The 93 Chevy 1500 needed a throttle body gasket. Finished it up Tuesday afternoon. Yesterday I helped my friend put lowering shackles on his 95 Chevy 1500 and did a couple of oil changes while I was there. Not doing anything else the rest of the week.

Along with my P0111 I am getting a P2580 which is turbo speed out of range. I found some time to fiddle today. Checked resistance on the sensor which came to about 960 Ohms, which falls into the 600 to 1600 Ohm bracket. I suspected its just my MAP still but my God I never have time to think about fixing it.

The turbo speed sensor wiring connector is somewhat easily accessible with the intake ducting off. Then its just a matter of gooning my hands into hook up the multimeter.

Going to diagnose my aunts 2018 Dodge Journey. My uncle sprayed carburetor cleaner all over the throttle body and connections when the car went into limp mode. I told him dude you can’t do that this isn’t 30 years ago and they have special cleaner for that stuff now. I knew he had messed something up when he told me he sprayed the carburetor…. Now it’s doing worse than it did going into limp mode. So we will see if what I find. I’m thinking it could be a computer issue but not sure till I diagnose.

Friend from back where I grew up, brought his 198? Jeep Commanche with like 289k miles on it for PM (oil change, as I used to be a PM tech at current job). Put on a MC FL1A and some Valvoline Maxlife SM 10w30. I have sae maybe 3 of these in my entire life his included

Rear pads on a 2005 Honda Accord. After lunch I'm starting an oil pan gasket replacement job on a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 4.8. Probably get it torn down today and finish it tomorrow, unless the pan is really gunky. If that happens I'll take it to the local machine shop and have them vat it. Other wise I'll do the best I can with mineral spirits and brake cleaner.

Buttoned up the GMC about an hour and a half ago, oil pan was surprisingly clean so it got a quick wash and blow out with compressed air. Supposed to have a brake job dropped off tonight to piddle with tomorrow. Sounds like front and rear pads and rotors on a 2003 GMC Envoy.

The sht show continued for this guy. Ripped into the city with enough time to hit the Cummins shop and picked up a new MAP sensor, 2897333.

So I dropped off my wife at a store and ran tin Cambodian Tire to grab another torx T15 bit because why wouldn't my other bit fall into the engine bay to never be seen again?

Grabbed another set of everything because why would they just sell torx bits? Swapped out sensors right there. Dropped the little bolt into the abyss of course. Thankfully I can see it on some cross member but can't reach it. So I'm 6'1 with long skeletor arms and I have to climb up like a monkey to almost reach it. Then I shift around like some high centered porpoise and manage to knock it down, where thankfully it lands on the asphalt.

So next I screw it in and about to tighten it in and the T15 falls out and lands beside the battery tray. Like some sort of monkey poking a stick I to an ant hill I finally manage to fish it out. I then tighten the bolt and then drop the screwdriver down into that nice hot abyss of engine heat. Can't reach it from the top so then I got it crawling under.

I gave the guy that was watching a waive as he sat in his air conditioned grandstand.

All of this for the codes to not even clear.
